@thenomain The world needs more women who do funk. Come Into My Head.

The world needs more women who do videos like that, too. Thank goodness the latest group of pop musicians has.

Equally unnecessary: Ludacris freestyles Anna Dewdney's beloved children's book.

I've been on an European music kick lately. Any French/German/Spanish rock bands people would recommend that sing in their native languages?

Listened to this while working, kept me from wanting to hurl large cases of vodka at someone.

I didn't ask for this, it sort of fell on me.

I'm on this huge synthwave kick lately and all I want to listen to is Scandroid and Gunship. Okay, there are others but these two are my current must-have's.

                      Gunship - Tech Noir
                      Scandroid - Neo-Tokyo

Hmmm. I don't know if any of this qualifies as strictly rock, because it's such a broad genre, so let me throw in a few things I've found that I enjoy the general feel of.

                          Spanish

                          Vetusta Morla - La Grieta
El Columpio Asesino - Ballenas Muertas en San Sebastián
                          Airbag - Noches de Insomnio
                          Second - Primera Vez

                          French

Not rock, but I really enjoy Laurie Darmon. Her voice is awesome, and I enjoy her sound.

                          Laurie Darmon - Ta Voix

Sadly, when it comes to finding foreign language music, I'm at the mercy of Spotify's charts by country, and the few musical suggestions my foreign friends occasionally drop, so most of the stuff on my playlists are more pop and rap centric. But it makes for good listening practice that isn't a weird sitcom, dubbed flick or del Toro movie.

Racism isn't Tinkerbell. It doesn't need you to believe in it for it to exist.

Because it seems apt, here's one of my favorite songs from my 20s, with lyrics (because James Dean Bradfield is Welsh, and this side of being incomprehensible).

Also, my favorite song to break up to.

                            And my second favorite song.

Yeah, for me, it was this remix.

God, I loved the Manics. Their music was so interesting. Like, the emptiness of some of their ballads to their over-the-top Brit-glam bits (with additional vocals by Traci Lords, actually).

I love video game music so hard. So, here's a list of choice picks over the years from trailers and games I've liked.

                                        1. From the Last of Us Remastered Trailer.
                                        2. Square Enix went all in for the main theme for Final Fantasy XV.
                                        3. The real version of Ellie's song in the first trailer for The Last of Us 2.
                                        4. Because Lindsey Stirling completes me.
                                        5. This will never get old for me.
                                        6. From the Evolve teaser trailer.
                                        7. From the Gears of War 4 trailer.
                                        8. An orgasm in 3/4 time.
                                        9. From the Quantum Break trailer.
                                        10. Because nothing is better than a cover by the composer.

“It is better to live doing the things that you like. It is foolish to live within this dream of a world seeing unpleasantness and doing only things that you do not like.” -- Yamamoto Tsunetomo.

                                          That reminds me:

                                          Yoko Kanno.

I might not like everything she's done, but I know that she is so good that I will always recommend her.

I fell in love with Yoko Kanno due to Macross Plus.
I also love Yuki Kajiura. I fell in love with her due to Mai-HiME and Mai-Otome.

ETA: Speaking of covers and Macross Plus: Laura Shigihara's cover of Voices.

She also has covers of tons of other music, and has her original music from video games like Plants vs. Zombies.
