Finish my game sometime before 2nd Quarter 2018.
Find games that I'd like to actually play on.

I keep promising myself that I'm going to do this project I've always felt inclined to try.

My mom is buried in Israel and I've never seen her resting place. So I want to try to crowdsource a trip to Israel, but incorporate blog entries and maybe vlog entries and basically make it a journey for people to follow. Maybe get some sponsorship from various Jewish organizations.

I keep promising myself that maybe some day I will do a Supernatural place, in an alternate timeline where Sam said yes, and the virus is out there. Monsters but survival horror-y too. But I don't know how to code. I have the books and I know how to say what I want, but I am no coder. I think Theno said I was a good theoretical coder once, or something.

            • Put my ruby/python foo to use and get comfortable with Ares and Evennia.
            • Stop trying to become friends with people I meet on games.
            • Become a jaded coder who doesn't RP anymore.

If I see a game that interests me but isn't WOD, I'm going to fucking try it. I'm been WoD since I started about eight years ago and damn it, it's time for a change.

I'm just scared of trying to learn a new system.

              Am I the baddie?
              Yes. Always yes.

I'd like to try a theme/system/et cetera that's unfamiliar, or at least different after years of comic book and assorted anime-themed games.

I need to work on plot-running, especially as it relates to following through on ideas and maintaining motivation.

I could also really stand to work on consistent activity, given that I've been bouncing around aimlessly for the last few months.

I want to learn enough MUX code to, if not work up a project, at least be able to write/read it usefully, too.

MU*-wise, I'm in that pool of people who plan to learn Python, tho it's not specifically for MU*ing. I want to learn to code. I've always intended to and Python seems a good place to start. It's just delayed until I'm done with school. I graduate in May, so I'll probably start then.

Sooner then that, I have a little project I wanna do. This probably won't interest anyone else, but... one of the Stoics, Seneca, was alive during the time of Jesus. Seneca's brother, Gallio, is actually referenced in the book of Acts. Two very different (Jesus and Seneca) men with different philosophies. It just fascinates me, I suppose. And I've been doing a fair bit of reading on stoicism over the past handful of months.

So I want to take some of Seneca's texts (this and this likely) along with this particular translation of the New Testament and just do my own philosophical study on it all.

Knowing me, I'll get distracted partway through, but it just seems an interesting venture. No, I'm not religious, but I've always liked studying the tenants and mythologies of the various religions.

I set goals for myself year-round, so new years resolutions are a time for checking in on those goals but not weighted terribly heavily. Like others have said most of those goals are RL based but hey, I can come up with some MU* related ones.

                      1. Be chill! If I'm feeling super stressed, don't log in to play unless I am sure that logging in will be fun and escapist.

                      2. Give people the benefit of the doubt. Over and over again! Things that seem or feel malicious often are not, so instead of assuming the worst, just assume the best.

                      3. Focus on making sure that I'm chasing my own fun and providing fun for others in equal measure. Ideally those both just happen without extra effort put in but put the effort in until I get better at it.

                      4. Stay away from gossip and negativity. Nothing takes the wind out of my sails faster than hearing people gossip about other players OR about staff OR about a game. It makes me super frustrated sometimes, because once I've heard all those negative feelings I can't unhear them, and then it gets super uncomfortable. Like do I keep playing with someone who I know has a super low opinion of staff/the game/etc that I am playing too? That's not much fun. I want to play with people who love the game they play on, and the toxic grumpy gossip does nothing but make ME feel grumpy too, and resentful sometimes of the players who have been kvetching. It's basically just a huge buzzkill, the same way hearing co-workers kvetch about the building or the admin or central office kills my "Lets touch young lives and make the future better wooot!" moments.

Thats all I have so far!

My resolution is to not express my anger in a negative manner on the microphone on online games.

I've kept my resolution four years running now, so I've got high hopes.

Got a ton of green coffee beans for Christmas.

                                  So my New Years resolution.

                                  1. Roast all the several pounds of green coffee I received.
                                  2. Grind all the coffee I roast in part #1.
                                  3. Binge-drink all the coffee I grind in part #2.
                                  4. Sit back and wait for the time to slow down after my 100th cup of coffee.

Balance playtime evenly across my games, try to be a good leadership figure in the sphere without losing my mind or mucking into too much drama.
