Descent Reboot

@thenomain I appreciate the sincere answer to my trollish question. You remain a gentleman and a scholar.
-
The best defense against a troll is to be completely oblivious.
Er, I mean, yes, it's because I totally meant that.
-
Ganymede's customized Bloodlines are in.
Hurt Locker's absolutely horrible fighting styles are in, but I haven't worked out how sheet is going to show them, and I'm not sure if the xp spending system knows what to do with them either. It should, but I have too many headaches to work it out right now.
Promethean is on the list.
It's on the list under "Never", but it did make the list.

Do you know how difficult their sheet system is?
Not as hard as Demon's, but if I get the gumption, I will be all over it.

@thenomain Promethean is hard as hell to understand even on TT. If you didn't adapt them, I would understand. I just like the splat!

Moar update! Theno's given me the go-ahead to start letting folks come and do some cgen. I still have a couple of places to desc (like 5 rooms) and there's equipment being updated, maps being made etc. BUT! If you want to come down, talk some shop, work on concepts while we work on these final few things, please join us! I'd love to help some folks get concepts sorted and built and talk some theme and ideas and see if the code dies.
thedescentmux.com for the wiki and login info!
ETA: Not tonight, though, I'm heading to bed >.> But tomorrow!

Disciplines being "in-bloodline" (aka in-clan but for bloodlines) have been sorted out.
This is the first WoD game I know where Hurt Locker is properly represented. That is, you can buy fighting styles out of sequence. Which is to say, a really stupid rules option to let people do that, but there you go. Buy 3 levels of Mounted Combat and you can immediately buy the fifth dot in four fighting style categories, including Mounted Combat itself.
Some categories have only one fighting style in them, making this rule pretty much idiotic except that you can skip level 4 (and only level 4) in them.
Sorry, I'm on a tangent. Everything should be bug-free now.
-
Maaan, why do all the best WoD games have to use nWoD. Can't stand what they did to the clans in that system, but it looks like so much fun.
-
So, it looks like we'll be able to process apps in the next 2-3 days (maybe sooner). There's a couple things I want to get written up for the wiki today (Vamp theme file, and one for each of the Praxes, and maybe start on building the wiki pages for the Princes), and some minor equipment adjusting in the eq system. There are likely to be a couple more bugs to be found, but @Thenomain has been amazing at squashing them.

Honestly, you're doing yourself a disservice to look at Requiem through Masquerade's lens. There's plenty of awesome stuff in Requiem just as there is in Masquerade. Comparing it apples to apples is not fair to you trying it out. I've found that more or less every concept I could make in Masquerade, I can make with as much (and in many cases, more) versatility in Requiem.
-
@bobotron Not going to go too into it because I don't want to derail the threat, but I just feel they completely butchered the vampire lore in requiem, and it's far beyond anything I could personally ever bring myself to stomach. In my humble opinion they completely ruined the clans beyond recognition, and ruined any possible incentive for me to play. That's all personal opinion of course, other people are more then welcome to enjoy it I just wish there were more cWoD games because that has the clans I love, and the lore I can actually stomach.
-
I think though that's looking through it with the Masquerade lense. The whole 'they butchered the clans beyond recognition.' It's not meant to be a sequel or follow up, it's its own thing, you know? They're aren't just the same clans taken apart and put back together (though one can see elements of that in places) but their own thing, and its own game.
Of course, to each their own and all that stuff. I enjoy Requiem far more than Masquerade.
-
Anyway, I'm going to wish this place good luck! Sadly I can't get into the 2e NWoD myself, as much as I love 1e. Too much difference. But if they can make something that isn't Sandbox by Night fly, that'll be good for the community.

Although I personally prefer the oWoD lore, it sounds like your complaint is closer to "this isn't the oWoD!" than something wrong specifically with nWoD. However, it's unfair to judge a setting based on what it's not trying to do - which in this case is imitate/copy its predecessor.
-
@arkandel It's less "This isn't oWoD" and more "What its doing new just doesn't engage me"

For me, honestly, it's the opposite. I rather despised the old World of Darkness' storyline, especially for vampires.
-
It's perfectly cromulent to not be grabbed by a game line.
The best description I heard of nWoD was "they took out the worst and best parts of the game". OP's WoD2/CoD seem to be trying to find the engagement again, while New WW's New New WoD is grinding everything back down to basics and adding porn-star misogyny (with a splash of "stop complaining it's called the World of Darkness LOL" that is giving me so much confidence).
-
I might be the odd one but Vampire is the one game line where I prefer the NWoD version to the OWoD. The whole Sabbat vs Cam thing never really interested me. I find the political structure of the covenants more interesting and you still have the VII and the Brood to provide adventure antagonists.

Alrighty! It ain't pretty, but it's done! So that means it's soft open time!
Theme and Setting information: http://thedescentmux.com/index.php/Setting
West Praxis: http://thedescentmux.com/index.php/West_Praxis
East Praxis: http://thedescentmux.com/index.php/East_PraxisThe wiki, I figure, will grow organically as things start to happen (plus, I'm still at a loss for what it needs, so I think of new things to add here and there as I go).
We'll wait a couple of weeks before we get the territory system going, in-game. This will give folks a chance to get settled into the theme and have a few scenes before adding in the mini-game for play-testing. Trying to avoid overwhelming with too many differences until we've had a chance to find a rhythm.
Suggestions are always welcome!
