Star Trek: Typhon Accords
-
Star Trek: Typhon Accords is a Sci-Fi themed MUSH set in the time period after Star Trek Nemesis. The year is 2388, within the last decade the Alpha and Beta quadrants have seen a large scale invasion by the Borg that resulted in approximately 63 billion dead. This destruction resulted in new alliances being formed, The Typhon Pact, consisting of Romulan, Breen, Tholian, Gorn, Tzenkethi and the Holy Order of the Kinshaya. In response to the formation of this new super power the Federation and Klingon Empires reaffirmed their friendship by forming the Khitomer Accords. Soon after the Ferengi Alliance and the Cardassian Union also joined the Khitomer Accords.
The game runs on the CobraMUSH codebase with the original space engine known as Frontier Space. There are many other coded systems including an extensive medical base with injuries, diseases, drugs and more. All of these are just tools to help promote RP and to help resolve situations that might arise. Character creation is simple and to the point, aimed at getting people into the RP world as smoothly as possible.
We draw information for our setting and timeline from several of the recent series of books Star Trek Destiny, a 3 part series that detailed the Borg invasion and subsequent defeat of them. Star Trek Typhon Pact and Star Trek The Fall are another series of books that have been used as the basis for our theme. While we do draw inspiration from these books, having read them is not a requirement to play.

But can we play as the Q?

MUSHClient says:
Unable to resolve host name for "startrekkin.net", code = 11002 (Non-authoritative host not found)Ping resolves to 69.60.124.201 and I'm able to connect to that just fine, same port.

@mr-johnson No.

@nemesis Looks like that error comes from a DNS issue. Only thing I can really do is suggest using a different DNS server, like googles or opendns. As far as I know there's nothing I can do about it on the game's end.
-
Does this use similar to ATS spaceship code?
Or is it a code more similar to that used on Serenity/Firefly?
I ask because while I adore ship code and ship combat code, I cannot stand the amount of typing that must be done, and mental math, to be effective at ATS ship combat code.
-
@lithium There's really not much in the way of ship combat. While we have code for it, the players really don't fight much. The players really just use the space code to travel from one adventure to the next. Occasionally run some scans for more information. Communications. That sort of thing.

Been using 4.2.2.1 and .2 since before Google DNS existed or hotmail was owned by Microsoft. I wasn't posting a bug report for your consumption anyway, I was posting an IP address for everyone else who might have this issue.
Since you're actually monitoring your thread: An 11002 is a DNS timeout so it actually is on your end. If you're hosting your own DNS servers, you might consider letting your registrar do it for you.

The last logs posted on that wiki are from 2015. How active is this place, exactly? What plots are presently going on?
-
@tinuviel Activity comes and goes, sometimes the crew stays pretty active and other times not so much. The logs are merely some of the highlights that either people have sent to me or were recorded at their request with the log bot. We've recently had several new players join the crew and a new overall storyline began a few hours ago.

I miss you guys on Typhon Accords. I just wish my schedule permitted it right now.
SPOON!

I wish you all the very best of luck.
But I keep seeing this thread and have to say: There are no bees on Typhon.
(A good sci-fi podcast, having nothing to do with Trek. Go Trek!)
