The passing of a good doggo leaves a hole to be filled with another good doggo deserving of a good home.
That's the only way I can cope with the loss of pets. The knowledge that now that my pet is gone, I can give another animal who needs it the same love.

Got on the bus tonight to pay witness to a woman shouting at an older black man about how he was breaking through law (???) by wearing a jacket on the bus and she didn't feel safe and was going to call the cops......and proceeding to try to drag me into it (thanks lady, really love the implication of being racist alongside you, sure).
She finally got off. Rest of ride seemed all right. Until I went to get off the bus and another woman who had been quiet all along began screaming threats and obscenities at me. Didn't even realize it was me until I looked over and she was pointing at me while threatening to kick my ass.
The guy who had been the target of the first woman got off at the same stop and he looked at me to shake his head and commented that he doesn't know what's gotten into people tonight.
I just want a car so I can go straight home in peace.

@admiral I have a wheelchair bound dog coming tomorrow. I will double boop that snoot. We're picking up toys tomorrow too to bring to our favourite dog park in his honor. So folks can take one home with their doggo's.

Ugh.
I'm still waiting to hear back from payroll. The person I know personally in payroll (who adores me, a, and runs payroll, b) is on vacation this week. I'm waiting until she gets back before I take further action.
If I don't hear anything after she gets back? I'm going to the Workforce Commission. $200 is not a small amount when you live paycheck to paycheck like I do.
@jibberthehut This is exactly why when I deal with any kind of canine service, I have a laundy list of things i tell them about Rock, for their safety and my liability. He's got a high prey drive and can and will mistake small dogs for rabbits, especially if they are particularly fluffy, squeaky, or openly exhibit submissive behavior. I always carry a muzzle when i take him for walks or out to an enclosed field for his runs in case other dog owners show up, and I frequently don't let him play with other dogs if I see that they tend to play rough, because his skin is so thin and a casual teeth graze can have him bleeding all over the place.
That said, the amount of people who walk around with tiny, aggressive dogs off leash around here can seriously go fuck themselves.
@cupcake I sadly have to admit that I once kicked some dogs.
The reason? Because I was taller than the other people in the office whilst working for local government I found myself sent out with the guy who collected rent from traveler (gypsy/romani) camp sites around the area. Some people were lovely, like making us cups of tea and bacon sandwiches lovely. Others... Not so much.
One woman essentially unleashed a tide of very murderously inclined jack russells at us who really, really wanted to bite out our hamstrings.

This is why I don't even dare take my dog to dog parks. He doesn't have a high prey drive, he thinks he's a 20 lb lap dog and not a 75 lb blockhead people think is a pit.
He lets the roommate's 30 lb blind cocker bark in his face and get all up in his personal space, and won't do a thing. The 20 lb cat, he play bows to and he ends up with a face full of claw and doesn't understand why.
He wants to play, and has never hurt another animal of any size willing. But people freak out when they see him, because 'omg it's a pit bull'. No, no it isn't. Give him a second and he will lean into you and ask you for pets like you're his new best friend. If you give him treats, you will be his best friend for life, yo.
For as much as I have come to hate industrial/goth music festivals, I wish I had a teleportation device so that I could be at Wave Gotik Treffen for the next two hours while one of my most favorite people in the world takes the stage at Agra Halle.
Meanwhile, I get to go to the birthday party of the son of another one of my most favorite people in the world. Too bad the kid's mother has decided she's not going to attend, and is breaking her kid's heart. Selfish, punchable beast. They're only eight once.
Don't look at me like I'm a crazy person when I check if the 'oh' in your email address is the letter O or the number 0. It could be either and it won't wotk if I get it wrong.
@macha I dont do dog parks anymore. I had one incident with Rock, and thankfully the other dog was eventually okay, but I had to pay for the vet care and the owners were cool about letting me pay it off over a period of time. But that was the last time we ever went to a dog park. I know of various enclosed fields in my area that we go to, or if I want to take a 30 minute drive, I can take him to the greyhound only dog park run by the local adoption group that requires all the dogs to wear muzzles.
@cupcake Man, that's rough. I'm just lucky that mine is pretty happy with some rope, television and belly rubs. And snacks. Don't forget the snacks.
@cupcake Our two local dog parks are divided into 3 area's Large pathed area all fenced in. Then a smaller agility park, and then a "Small dog" park. Signs on the small dog and agility state that if you're unsure, bring your dog into these two smaller ones, if you just need some space away from others. Best park ever. But yeah, there's been incidences at the parks too, of people being idiots, not watching their dogs or keep their dog on a leash when they get past the entrance path. When the sign states take your dog off the leash for it's safety, but keep your leash at hand.
