Crescent Moon Mux / New Orleans CoD Mux
-
Update: Because I heard you guys like blurbs. So I made one:
The wind, rain and general destruction that tore apart New Orleans in 2005 has passed. Left among those too stubborn to leave their homes, were the supernatural. First to bring fresh life into the waterlogged divisions of their homes, they encouraged their families and companions to join them. Also eager to participate in this influx were the upstart groups. Smaller in power but ambitious, they too moved to take their own piece of New Orleans. The playing field, was after all, washed clean but the places to settle were not endless. The vampires and their ghouls, the werewolves and the wolf blooded, pack and covenant all wanted their own piece of the historical city.
It's 2018 and the return of New Orleans as a tourist attraction has brought with it fresh faces and new money to the population of the Big Easy. The jazz and jambalaya once again flows through the streets, along with the tourists, and the alcohol. Tours have returned to the graveyards and haunted places, and with this return, a fair share of crime has been revived. Despite the occasional body that may jar the headlines of the local late news, New Orleans does not stagger. The rich heritage, the strong roots and a bit of magic keeps her strong.
Voodoo practitioners are known to give demonstrations that have been raved about in the "Things to Do While Visiting New Orleans" section of the local paper. Supplies for everything from Wicca, to Voodoo can be found, some only available, so the rumor goes, if you know who to ask. There is even word that you have to ask in code. For the lucky few, new local businesses thrive here, along with the well established places that are the backbone of the Quarter.
Welcome to Crescent Moon Mux. We are in the alpha stages of development. The end game is a Chronicles of Darkness game, set in the story rich city of New Orleans. The darkness has risen to power in the face of disaster, filling the power vacuum and bringing the supernatural society into power like they've never experienced before. They are the veins and life blood of New Orleans, unwilling to surrender the home they have now claimed.
Our grid is planned out to encompass all types of RP. There will be different types of social economic structures, from long established, grand homes to the revived apartments that offer you a view to die for. Speaking of the dead, we have vampire cgen done, along with ghoul. When we hit beta stage and are ready for people to begin logging on and breaking things, you guys will be first to know.

Why this post? Because we want to start hiring staff, especially if you are a particular fan of the spheres listed. Want to be a sphere lead? Let us know. Have ideas for fluff to fill out our world? We need you. Want to help write theme files? We need you. We also need a Wiki person. We need people who want to desc the grid. We want people to start testing our c-gen and submitting jobs if you find a bug. Yes, we need all the things!

Things I shouldn’t have to say: Be an adult, as in you must be 18 in RL and your character must be at least 18 ICly. No porn on the wiki, make sure everyone is legal to walk down the street, please. No overloaded pages with 10+ pictures. Keep the drama to a minimum and I won’t have to bring down the ban hammer. Thank you, drive through.

I must just add, ICA=ICC is not a theme, that's a policy.
-
Can you give more details as to the theme and setting? Is it as close to RL New Orleans as possible or did you have something else in mind?
-
Dumb question but is Chronicles the same as World?
-
Chronicles is 2e.
-
Are the Humans just Mortal, or can they be Mortal+? And which book would be used for Human, in either case?
-
@wildbaboons Chronicles of Darkness is the rebranded name of World of Darkness, meant to indicate the difference between new world of darkness and this new new world of darkness. THe core rulebook is called Chronicles of Darkness rather than the 'World of Darkness Core Rulebook'
-
Comments about wiki pages with 10+ pictures in an ad that says literally nothing about the game besides "modern, in New Orleans, Vampire", seems so weird.
You spent more time going over your peeves about wikis than telling anybody anything about the game.

Honestly, it's a multisphere CoD game - it's kind of like the cross-universe 3-city standard set-up for a superhero game. Everybody kind of knows what they're going to get in advance. Nobody's reinventing the wheel, I'd imagine.
-
@shaggy I think they mean the overhead story of the setting.
-
@shaggy This sounds absolutely disheartening.

I'm fairly sure CofD refers to all New World of Darkness, and it distinguishes nWoD vs oWoD. As in, Vampire: The Requiem vs Vampire: The Masquerade. Not 1e vs 2e.
@BlackDahlia I will surely help, as I offer to help everyone else. But I'll agree with the rabble rabble... Give me a little something to get excited! Well, I mean, besides that you're not doing ANOTHER 1E game... That does get me excited...
If you're on TinyMUX (or Penn/Rhost, presumably), I can help with some code. If you're on MediaWiki, I can help with Wiki.

Glad to see a 2e vs 1e game coming out.
Chronicles of Darkness is the 2e (Godmachine and later game lines/rules).
http://whitewolf.wikia.com/wiki/Chronicles_of_Darkness -
More vampires and werewolves.
-
@thatonedude Come on man. Let's not hash it all out again in another thread.
-
@rucket Nah, I'm cool. @ThatOneDude just dropped by to embarrass himself after jumping ship off the other thread when proven wrong about that whole auspice thing.
It is not the fact it is 2e that I find disheartening. 2e has some good stuff. I just thought it was kinda disheartening to imagine a world as @shaggy suggested might be the case, where people just make McWoD, 'Yo, the usual 2e WoD game' announcements. I am not saying this was the case, btw!
If it is 1e or 2e, godspeed, game runners! I wish you guys all the luck in the world.

Uh no. World of Darlness first edition is just world of darkness. They didnt change names of the core game between old and new world, just the names in the splats. Werewolf forsalen instead of apcolypse etc. Chronicles of darkness is the post GMC material veing released by Onyx right now

I agree. The idea that game designers are just churning out WoD game #115 in (Insert city here) is very disheartening but it does feel that way, none of these recent WoD games seem to have much going for them astheticly or metawise except for the Descent which now appears to be dead.

@magee101 I don't want to be that guy but I'm super trying to avoid work right now... The entire (new) World of Darkness gameline is under the CofD umbrella. They retroactively changed the name. See here where it says, "After an extensive overhaul of the concepts of the World of Darkness, the Chronicles of Darkness (sometimes “CofD”) was developed in 2004 with the release of the World of Darkness Rulebook..."
You can also look here and see how CofD Second Edition is mentioned, as a separate thing from CofD First Edition. And as it, too, says, "In December of that year, the "new" World of Darkness saw its name changed to "Chronicles of Darkness" to more fully distinguish it from the "classic" World of Darkness."
Lastly, the Wikipedia that states, "As White Wolf Publishing attempted to keep the original World of Darkness separate, the new World of Darkness was rebranded as the Chronicles of Darkness..."
So, when we refer to "Chronicles of Darkness", it's not nWoD 2E. It's nWoD, by Onyx Path marketing lingo. We'd technically need to refer to CofD 1E vs CofD 2E to differentiate between the 2004 book and the 2015 core rulebook.
And just to be super clear, all the books that are Chronicles of Darkness are here.

While this might be technically correct, I think the point is also kind of moot, since 1e was discontinued with the coming of the 2e and THEN it was rebranded as Chronicles of Darkness. So no new content will be released under 1e, making CHronicles an exclusively 2e enterprise.
So I think it's perfectly fair to refer to 2e as Chronicles, and not 1e, as that is the understanding of most of its players.
