@magee101 I don't want to be that guy but I'm super trying to avoid work right now... The entire (new) World of Darkness gameline is under the CofD umbrella. They retroactively changed the name. See here where it says, "After an extensive overhaul of the concepts of the World of Darkness, the Chronicles of Darkness (sometimes “CofD”) was developed in 2004 with the release of the World of Darkness Rulebook..."
You can also look here and see how CofD Second Edition is mentioned, as a separate thing from CofD First Edition. And as it, too, says, "In December of that year, the "new" World of Darkness saw its name changed to "Chronicles of Darkness" to more fully distinguish it from the "classic" World of Darkness."
Lastly, the Wikipedia that states, "As White Wolf Publishing attempted to keep the original World of Darkness separate, the new World of Darkness was rebranded as the Chronicles of Darkness..."
So, when we refer to "Chronicles of Darkness", it's not nWoD 2E. It's nWoD, by Onyx Path marketing lingo. We'd technically need to refer to CofD 1E vs CofD 2E to differentiate between the 2004 book and the 2015 core rulebook.
And just to be super clear, all the books that are Chronicles of Darkness are here.
It was a move done by a publishing company after the fact to help dismiss confusion that had already been in the community for a decade. as @Derp says, might be technically correct, but for us here in the hobby, CofD is 2nd Edition NWoD and is represented that way on these forums.
ETA: Basically, just because someone has retroactively rebranded something to make things "simplier" does not mean that the vast majority of their customers agree or follow their new branding system ten years after the fact.

@magee101 @Derp Yeah, boooo. Who likes being technically correct and going off what the websites say...
That's the problem with cultures, technically correct and actually correct can be vastly different. If they had called it CofD ten years ago, well we'd all call nWoD CofD, but they took too long, we have our own names for it, and it will probably never be widespread in the hobby that CofD=all nWoD material.

You are not the entirety of the hobby. Plenty of people use the appropriate terminology. You were wrong. Get over it.

Do go on being unable to concede a minor, inconsequential point, it's super endearing.

Hit submit too soon. Anyway. Anyone mind if I split this discussion off? -
As someone who poked around WoD within the past year after lots of time in the community never playing it, I sure didn't care about technical answers, I just needed someone to be able to tell me what people actually meant in conversation when they started saying "Chronicles of Darkness." I ONLY CARE WHAT PEOPLE MEAN COLLOQUIALLY. ALL YOUR ABBREVIATIONS ARE CONFUSING.

It is! We're still plugging away slowly. The team is really small but working hard! The updates are a little slow at the moment, but we do post them on our Discord channel as things happen. Come join!

In the spirit of 'getting #@#$! done, I've decided to make little posts here to let everyone know that we're still very much alive and moving ever closer to opening.
I just cleared staff to start using the wiki, the theme is finally stable enough for content (until I'm done with my extensions later!). Things are starting to move over. I predict we'll be ready for our first small beta really soon, so keep an eye out! I'll also post a link to the Wiki as soon as there's something to look at.
Feel free to join us on Discord for more frequent updates, ask questions, plot, plan and hang out! https://discord.gg/F7ZZT8p
