I think the story is, the person that hosted WORA couldn't maintain it (and also didn't clone their forum files) so we have this instead.

Nobody told me the mud pit was BYOM (bring your own mud) πŸ˜‰

I believe the bulk of the story is that WORA went down, and the community here has no access to any backups or files from before. So, it's gone.

            What Happened to WORA.

So far this board is more about discussion and less about trolling, Ped. It's up to @Glitch and @EmmahSue if you want to spam threads trying to derail them, but I'm so very tired of that I have given up on trying to resurrect WORA's database even for archival reasons. This is just one man's opinions, though. The Mud Pit is "meant to be Wora", so I guess get your social manipulation on?

Hey, I was never a thread-spammer. I do admit I enjoyed the trolling, though.

If this place is designed to move away from the negativity, then I guess I'll honor that.

I also offer delusions to myself. For instance, my little explosions were always for reasonable, well-founded reasons. HR still thinks he's funny and insightful, for some reason.

Designed to, no. Ended up being, more like. I think a lot of us were tired of Wora, even when we were defending it.

To be fair, the expansiveness of the abusive bullshit was more broad than it is these days, partly because of WORA, which is good.

The paranoia it created among decent folks that they'd be seen as the next Storm for some tiny nonsense thing? Not so great.

We may not be entirely out of toe rings, but they seem to be appropriately rare these days.

                  Oh fucking well.

Yeah, but people also had a tendency to blow up every little thing into toe ring of doom proportions too, sometimes the paranoia was absolutely justified.

                        Exactly that.

It's not like we've exactly run out of WTF, but there's little major WTF enough that it needn't comprise the entire purpose of a place any more by far.

Which is kinda awesome. That likely has less to do with WORA having an impact than a lot of people just growing up over the past 15 or so years it was around in some form or another.

                        Oh fucking well.

There are also a lot of people who never even touched WORA because they didn't feel comfortable with it, who are all right posting here and participating in this forum. I think it's in the community's best interest to embrace that change, given the givens.

I do miss Wora for the pure entertainment value though.
I will acknowledge this place is likely more constructive and productive but I misses mah stories.

I don't care so much about the reputations of specific people, but specific games like Serenity and Blood of Dragons...it's very nice to have a handy link to show people so they can properly Buyer Beware them. Even in archival form.

I think it has become painfully obvious, via the Blood of Dragons thread on these forums, that those types of games will never be free of criticism while forums like this one still exist, and it won't take long for said criticism to rise up again. So while I agree that archives would be cool, I don't think it's a concern in that particular "Buyer Beware" instance, since sooner rather than later, you'll be able to point at a thread here.

White this is certainly true, there's something to be said for being able to point back to literally years worth of history of issues as reported by dozens (in some cases hundreds) of different people.

But there's little point in crying over spilt milk. And yes, spell check, spilt is a real word so suck it.

No more hundreds of pages of Firan rants, though. 😞

But see, the only way to verify that all those hundreds of pages of rants are valid complaints and aren't just repetitive abuse is by reading them--and I, for one, do not think anyone would sit down and read hundreds of pages of complaints about a game before considering playing in it. I would much rather--and more likely--take a concise summary from a handful of people who agree, and if I am not convinced, risk it myself.

So having the hundreds of pages is neat conceptually, but practically, itΒ΄s negligible.
