Spirit Lake - Discussion

I was specifically answering Tempests question about Botulisms game. So nothing I said applies to Spirit Lake, for clarification.
-
@tempest of course there are going to be upvotes for any time a staff puts hard limits in place to make things more manageable and sustainable for what they want to do. It doesn't matter if someone likes or dislikes the staff, or is super interested or not interested in the game itself. I think we are at a point where people bothering to think and carve out boundaries for themselves and not be pressured to try and be all things to all people and open themselves up for a rush of people or huge populations or every sphere if that is not something they feel they can handle is finally seen as a good thing
-
@tempest No, afaik you can only have one archetype.

We have a hard cap, too - it's simply about recognizing what you can capably handle. I'd rather have a smaller game with jobs getting done and plots moving forward than a huge game where half get left out. That's not exclusive for the sake of being exclusive, it's about knowing how many players I can keep entertained.
I am...
A) Not sure how this is relevant.
I was agreeing that having a limit on how many players isn't about elitism, but being able to actually run a game and keep your sanity.
B) Somehow not surprised you got 12 upvotes from the people that populate this board.
Uh. Thanks?
Do you have a "hard cap, but oh you guys who are already on the game can all make alts?"
Nope! You get one PC. Period. You can play a limited number of supporting roles, but they are weak and squishy and meant to be meat for the grinder,

So wait, if your PC dies your option is to play a background extra? SRs in other games tend to be NPC+ entities that basically concierge for PCs. Is that what happens here too?
No idea about here. Was only speaking about Horror MU*.

Hi, I'm trying to get in touch with a Spirit Lake staff member - I can't contact them through the MUSH system itself, for reasons connected with why I'm trying to contact them in the first place, and I haven't been able to locate any other contact details for them anywhere on the website. Can somebody contact me by chat? (I sent a chat message to Tat a couple of days ago but haven't had any reply - maybe e didn't see it.)
-
@A-B Hey just out of curiosity, why can't you connect to the game itself?

Hi, I'm going to be brief here, since a few people have brought this to my attention (I am an occasional, but not regular, visitor to MSB).
I wasn't active online when you were banned as a guest, but it was pretty clear why. There's no need to re-hash it here; I'll simply say that there are plenty of games out there, and we wish you well in finding one that is a good fit for what you want.
But please don't track me or any other staff member down across other platforms. It's creepy and just not nice. If your behavior on game wasn't enough to enforce the ban (it was), then doing this would be.

Resurrecting an old thread, I know, but I'm hoping if I can reach out to any of the staff on this game. I had a couple of questions I wanted to ask them from a game design standpoint, especially in regards to Ares.
-
@testament It might be easier to pop onto the game and see about paging someone there. They don't really hang around these parts often. Or maybe checking out the Ares forums?
