The Division 2

Anyone else playing the beta for this? So far it plays very well, smooth experience all around. And the gunplay is pretty good too. Also the detail of going through post-apoc DC that doesn't look completely jacked like in Fallout 3 is pretty sweet.

@Rucket Not the beta but I'm going to preorder.
-
I preloaded it last night, but haven't been home yet to try it out. I liked the setting and general setup of the original, but my biggest problem was that the enemies were all bullet sponges and cover was tantamount to useless due to almost every one of them having some grenade type ability. (Your grenades only ticked a small amount off their health - whereas they could kill you with like 2 of their own) Hopefully they fixed that.

Is Division 2 (DC) carrying over characters from D1, or is it its own separate incident?

Haven't seen any characters come over, but this one takes place after the first game and things are far more fucked.

I've been trying to decide, for a while, if I'm gonna get TD2 or not.
I liked the first one quite a bit, but my interest often waned quickly when I played solo. I had so much more fun (and still do) when I played with someone. It was just always more enjoyable with a buddy (or two). So I keep looking at TD2 and going ehhhhhhhhh- because I can't guarantee I'll be able to grab people on the regular to play with and I fear it'll have that same drop-off playing solo.

I want to. Really loved the first one but meh. Getting anthem first.

I want to know if they fixed their problems from the first time around.
I really enjoyed the game as long as I didn't have to deal with other hostile players. The whole all levels PVP zone to get to and from raids and recover your raid rewards was a hard no. Which is a shame as the randomized scenario generator was pretty cool and I thought the story was pretty good.
Likewise allowing exploits to keep their years worth of top end gear from the start was a really bad idea. Really, really bad. People were given til the death of the game to use their ill-gotten loot to harass other players trying to raid to get that same gear. It was pathetic.

Not a fan of the setting. Frozen New York felt more interesting, but not being North American, DC isn't as recognizable to me!
Otherwise a flawless demo so far.
-
I haven't been able to play it a ton but I'm really enjoying it so far. I really have no complaints about the small portion I've experienced on the PS4 so far.
-
@ZombieGenesis I had some disconnection issues with the first real mission, but after that it was smooth sailing. I'm finding weapon types I love and hate though, haha. Really like my rifle, my shotgun and the pistol.
-
@Rucket I've encountered some graphical bugs there were highly amusing, a few side missions that never completed even after I rescued the hostage or whatever, and some funky character death animations but that's about it so far. My preferred loadout right now is a rifle with an assault rifle backup. And I'm loving the turret skill. In The Division 1 I never used any version of the turret aside from the flamer, here the standard turret rocks. I can set it behind me and know it actually has my back. It's nice.
Also, I think the cover system is much more important in this game than the first one. Some of the people I know who aren't liking the beta are still trying to use the old Division 1 "run around like a headless chicken" routine and it's not working for them. I'm liking it very much.

@SunnyJ I actually live and work around DC - so it's interesting to see an entire game set in it (Admittedly, some of that is due to the 'that doesn't go there' factor.)
I did get a couple of hours into it when I got home yesterday, and - at least for the early part here - they seem to have resolved a lot of the issues I had with it. Even the starter weapons seem to be decent, and cover is far more useful. There's been some odd bugs and the game did crash a fair bit; plus the optimization isn't what it could be; but all that is fixable given it's still just a beta. -
Alright got to my beta. Who's on Xbox?
