I don't have to worry about ID theft on MUSHes, generally-speaking.

On the other hand, my copy of Stellaris has never asked me if I had to get naked during my school physical.

      There are mods for that.

Chinese company Tencent owns 10% of Epic, which has a number of people claiming that Epic is acting as spyware on Tencent's behalf.

IIRC they own 40% of Epic and 10% of Ubisoft.

It did come to me as a total surprise that there were hot coffee type mods for games like Stellaris, Cities:Skylines and Civilization. It really had me scratching my head how those worked.

I mean I get all the ones for Skyrim and Fallout. That stuff has fully rendered characters but...4x city building sims? I just...I don't get it.

Random question for all the lawyers out there: Say you met someone, and they happen to be in the games industry, and you live with them, so you have to sign an NDA. But you find out that person you were seeing signed your name for you, and sent it off and THEN told you, are you still responsible? Your name is on the NDA. Oh. Living outside your country of residence when the document was "signed" by you? If they tracked you down it could be easily provable you didn't sign it because you have girly girl handwriting, and they used messy writing and didn't even try to disguise the fact it looked like their signature.

The game at this point has also been out 7 years, and that asshole left the company before the game even came out.

@Insomnia I'm not a lawyer...I'll leave the legal stuff to @Ganymede ...but I don't think that can be enforced at all because you didn't actually sign it.

That being said, coming from my own former employment in the game industry, I will say that most NDA's are only valid up to a point (usually release of said game), but without seeing the document in question I don't know for sure.

IANAL (I love that acronym) but I don't see how you could ever be responsible for anything someone else signed on your behalf unless they were your legal guardian at the time.

Theoretically, generally speaking, you shouldn't be held responsible for a fraudulent signature executed on your behalf. I suppose if someone acted in reliance on that signature in good faith to their detriment there would be an equitable question about what that would mean in terms of enforcement. One question that may come up is what action, if any, you took upon discovering a fraudulent signature was executed on your behalf.

IDK what enforcement provisions you're worried about 7 years later, tho.

@saosmash I'm not really worried, it's more I was thinking about it and holy shit that was 10 years ago near about WHERE DID THE TIME GO? sort of thing, honestly.

This is more or less my opinion.

The point of an NDA is to restrain someone from talking about sensitive, proprietary information. If you haven't been doing that, there's no reason to try and enforce the NDA.

Google gets into the streaming video games market.

I’ve seen Microsoft invent and support propriatery DRM standards longer than most of Google’s projects.

Division 2 is actually pretty fun; there's more skills and specializations than in Division 1, and the gameplay is polished and smooth. I think I still prefer the frenetic speed (and aerial options) of my Anthem build, but it's definitely a well-made game and should be fun with friends.

The Outer Worlds is going to be exclusively on the Epic store for a year.

They are just scooping a bunch of PC exclusives lately. That 88% revenue share seems to be really enticing to devs.

The race that's about to begin over stream gaming between Google, Microsoft and possibly Amazon has the potential to change gaming as we know it.

Combined with 5G (heh!) we might be looking at a near future where people buy subscriptions to services rather than individual games or platforms. No more arguing XBox over PS4, it would be more which bundled online service you'll be paying.

More importantly... the hardware will be largely irrelevant. All of the computing would be on the cloud, and all you need is an internet-enabled device and a controller.

@Arkandel That's more or less on the money. We're moving to a Cloud based gaming. Physical medium is going away. Now we're just going to be in a landscape where you have large HDs and you download your games. That's going to be Google's angle with their game system they just unveiled. And Microsoft already had their new discless XBoxS leaked to be coming out on May 4th.
