@Scorn I have a gif that explains my situation, but I'm not sure that it's a good place to throw gifs all over.

When has that ever stopped you?

Well, yeah, but this is HorrorMux's unveiling party and I wanna focus on that.

God, I hope no one is using Sean Pertwee as a PB. That guy is the Sean Bean of sci-fi/horror.

@Ghost You can actually take a quirk this time that guarantees you will meet a horrible end and die.

                  Oh fucking well.

@surreality I like that. I would always choose that. Every chapter. Always.

You folks are making me want to try this game, if/when I actually have a chance to RP again.

Come on @Ghost, if I can play again so can you!

I intend to run a scene on Saturday, June 1st, at 3pm Pacific that will cover waking up from stasis and, uh... landing. >.> This scene can be broken into three rooms - one per Mission (Mining, Sci/Cul, and Investigation) to help with spam.

                        Rejoice! The end is nigh!

We almost had the shortest story ever. They were all an inch from dying in the opening scene because of hilariously bad rolls. So close!

A game structured like this needs energy and I suspect any lapse of energy grinds it to a halt, since there is no BaRP to really keep things coasting on momentum between the set pieces.

I dunno, the facility RP between the stories facilitated that, and there was always room for casual RP during most stories. The game sort of halted during one of the stories. I know I personally wasn't clicking with the setting very well, but I figured it was just a me thing and the next setting would come around etc.

Though I admit I was kinda thinking my character was complete, I sort of told the story I wanted to tell through her various selves and was debating starting a new person. It may have been the character not clicking as much as the setting.

Also, it was never a large game. It hit something of a perfect storm of people becoming very busy/ill/etc. all at once last I was there (a bit before the pandemic hit). So just a few people being knocked out makes a big difference, and we had a fair amount of that.

                                    Oh fucking well.

I liked the game a lot when I played.

                                      Some notes on the concept...

                                      1. Seasonal stories lead to resolutions, meaning character arcs get completed. This means people can feel 'done' or 'satisfied' with where their concept has come to far quicker than other games which rarely reach the OMG WE'RE ALL DYING WHAT DO YOU DO?! point of a story.

                                      2. The energy needed to be involved was higher than normal at least I felt it was. Not in a bad way but when a story is clicking it's moving and you need to get on a few nights a week and get in one of the Director scenes or at least a scene RPing about a directors scene. Higher maintenance because again, more is happening, more narrative resolutions are occuring than in other games.

                                      3. I would day slightly bigger staff, a bit more player control on non-direct plots. Give them the B and C plots to run. I know that they were making these changes shortly after I left due to not enough time so if they ever come back just stick to that.

This was really true of the WW1/WW2 game I played on, Greatest Generation, which used a kind of similar structure to Horror from what I can tell. Man when a campaign and character was clicking for me, the contracted, intense nature of the RP and knowing I'd have closure/a complete story (whether I died or not) was awesome and probably still some of the best RP I've ever had. But it was tough to play more casually or when you were going to need to be idle for even a few weeks.

                                          For sure.

I just thought people would come back and such.

Not that I can really speak to that. I thought working from home would make RPing a bit more likely, but it was the opposite!

                                            Same.

I feel like I somehow have less time.
