it would be especially interesting if Changelings in Rome had Courts and Freeholds that really related to Roman mythology; there's a lot to work with there. Creating your own Kiths would be amazing so that they could really resemble the huge sources of inspiration in Roman mythology.

P.S. consider Geist when 2e finally comes out because lares and ancestor cults, just sayin'.

I'd love to include as many spheres as I can, if we have the code and players to back it up. If you have 6 players, having 8 spheres is pointless, you know?

          Some stuff:

Vampire: Converting Requiem to 2e isn't that hard. Main thing is coming up with the 'Covenant' stuff, since they don't exactly exist as they are today. Wings of the Camarilla and all that. So, working out their benefits for some are easy (Wing of Prophets, and the Lancea et Sanctum, since they basically get Cruac and Theban) but the others require more work.

Werewolf: This MAINLY needs thematic changes, not as much mechanic. From what I can see, anyways.

Mage: If included, from what little I know of Mage, the setting would require a lot of work, right? And whole groups wouldn't exist or would be VASTLY different. Not educated on Mage at all.

Changeling: Reworking the Courts to be more Roman inspired would be cool, yeah. Also, adding some Kiths works well, totally.

Geist: One of the games that isn't out yet, but would fit very well once it does.

Mummy: With reworking time-wimey stuff and some other things, this could be interesting given the time period and connection to Egypt. Another 'when it comes out, discuss further' thing, like Geist.

          Things I want to include:

Families. An ancient city with such a diverse population screams for them. LOTS of potential for a range of common to noble families, imo. I know not everyone loves Families, but I adore the insta-hooks and connections.

Ease: I want history to be present, obviously. I want some wiki pages/news files on clothing, basic society, current history, culture, etc. HOWEVER, I want it to be as accessible as possible. I do not want players to need a degree in mythology or history to feel welcome. This bit is important. However, if someone is clearly and majorly playing against setting/time, they will be talked to and such.

Conditions: I want to make it so they are easily added and such. Easy and accessible code is a good thing.

** I am sure there will be more to come.

          Now...

I know shit all about coding. I can build, I can write. I am trying to teach myself how to code, but it's a rough journey. So, any and all help offered is a good thing. I can't pay, but I can cover the game server costs, etc. (Currently waiting for the server space to be prepped).

Fair enough. Honestly, Mage is the only one I'm iffy about. I definatly lean towards @RDC on this. Okay, no Mage.

I DO want mortal thaums somehow, though. It's TOO perfect of a setting not to have them, you know?

Supernatural merits IMO work pretty well for this, but it's also probably trivially easy to convert 1e thaumaturgy into 2e merits and create an associated minor template. I'm too much of a slacker to say that I'll do so for you wholesale but if you or someone else does it I will lend an eye for mechanics to the final product if you do.

It almost screams of "Gutter Magic". Which would kind of fit in well with the setting as well. See Here

Pay no attention to me. I'm old, jaded and generally unfriendly. I am prone to fits of stupidity, but I am still unique, just like everyone else. ~~ Current President of the Anti-Faraday fan club.

@Jennkryst Allow me to clarify my point:

That literally goes against the core of how Mage works.

Mage works the way staff says it works. Thus the HR. That section on the golden rule of 'use what you want, ignore what you don't' that all RPGs have.

This is the best thing ever, and I know it's only on here because I shouted loudly, constantly, but still. THUMBS UP!

                          Update:

I THINK I am going to set the game during the war with Carthage, about 200 years before Christ. That would mean no Sanctified, but lots of other cool stuff. A lot of overarcing plot would involve the Carthaginians. AKA, they send spies in to disrupt and start trouble (NPC plot stuff). Each sphere can be effected by the ongoing war in different ways, as there are loyal members of each sphere IN Carthage. A lot more would be going on in the setting, of course, but it is a starting point.

                                  UPDATE:

So, I have read Gutter Magic. Honestly, it's very workable. I'm totally down for it to be in game. I'll give it some thematic reskinning and such, and create some organizations to attach them to (Ala Mystery Cults, but more important for their 'sphere') Kind of like the Paths in Spirit Sight in 1e, as an example. They will basically be a subsphere. Once I rewrite the theme for them and we work it into the code, it'll be fully in. So, whee!

                                    UPDATE:

Working on vampire stuff, specifically the Wings, which are the 'covenants', so to speak. All branches of the Camarilla.

The Senex is the political arm. They run the show, really. Politicians and rules-makers and debaters, all serving the 'will' of the very torpid ancient who founded the Camarilla, Romulus. The highest group of them is the circle of elders who run the show, known as the Invictus. I'm giving them some Invictus merits, but not Oaths. So far they get:
                                    Attache
                                    Friends in High Places
                                    Invested
                                    Where The Bodies are Buried
                                    Courtoisie
Noblesse Oblige (Replace city with Cam status, as there is no City status, but there is Cam status...which covers the Empire)

The Wing of Prophets, or Cult of Augurs, are the diviners and spiritualists. The sorcerors. Unlike the modern Circle, though, it ALSO contains charlatans and people using it for their own gain with no real spiritual belief. Veneficia, the sorcery they use, does not require actual faith...just enacting the rituals and knowledge of them. In this pre-Christian era they are important for the Camarilla. They get Veneficia (Which works like Cruac MOSTLY). They also get the following merits:
                                    Altar
Secret Society Junkie (Properly renamed, and instead of Ordo)
                                    Mandragora Garden
                                    Temple Guardian
                                    Veneficia Style : Unbridled Chaos
                                    Veneficia Style: Primal Creation
                                    Veneficia Style: Opening The Void

The Peregrine Collegia, or Wing of strangers, is the branch of the...others. Often lower-class or similar, these lowly vamps tend to be made up of those who don't fit elsewhere. They can be shady and connected, and can often get jobs done that the others can't touch. They aren't rebellious, though, really, and most don't hate their position or feel spite over it. They are good at what they do, and people DO rely on them. They will likely be getting the following merits:
                                    Information Network (Instead of Invictus)
                                    Collegia Pull
                                    I Know A Guy
                                    Alley Cat
                                    Devotion Experimentation
                                    Fucking Thief

Now comes the Legio Mortuum. This is the military branch of the Cam. They are the legionarres, and the investigators and interrogators. They are brutal and skilled and honorable. Often, Kindred will serve one human lifetime within the Legion before joining the Senex, though not always. In 1e they got reduced xp cost on mentor, herd, retainer and fighting styles, but that doesn't work in 2e, so I have no idea what to give them. This is where I am at a loss.

The Ordo and Lancea won't exist for a long time, yet.

Not sure if you addressed this yet... but how do you plan to address the role of women in the era? They were not allowed to vote or hold political office, for instance. Will that be alt-historied? Will vampire society be different from human society? And if so, why and how?

Good question, and actually something I have been considering.

In many ways this game will be anachronistic. Sorry, history simulationists!

One of those ways will be gender. While women likely won't be -totally- equal among mortals, they can own property, and such. Among the Supernaturals they are equals. Even oWoD did this with their historical settings. The reasoning is because...whether that Vampire or Werewolf or whatever has breasts or not...THEY CAN STILL CONTROL YOUR MIND OR MURDER YOU. So, at least among the supernaturals, they are equal. And among humans they are equal enough to allow for full rp, really.

Another anachronism, for instance, is age. Sure, irl people married really early and died really early, but we're not about to have a bunch of 16 year olds or whatever running around. So, folks are aged up. 18 age minimum, and people live longer. Plebs likely still die earlier due to life, of course, but it isn't as extreme.

Other anachronisms will just be some stuff moved around the Roman era. Like, the huge bathhouses weren't quite a thing yet, but I want them. And I want a big ass amphitheater even though it won't exist for about 600 years.

TLDR: History will be taken into account on a lot of stuff on the game, but not everything. Think of it more like playing in a movie or something of the era. Accurate in broad swathes to get the TONE down, but not the extreme details. I want the game to be as absolutely accessible as possible.

I think, after a lot of thought, that I'm going to reflavor Coils to be specialized training within the Legio Mortuum, given only to 'career' soldiers. AKA not ones who train then leave for another Covenant. So, just like non Augurs won't have Veneficia, etc. So, the powers will be the same, but they come from specialized training and honing your form and NOT science. If someone can come up with a better idea for the Legio, please tell me. I'd be down.
