You may or may not find use for it, but sliders and click things that spit you out info at the bottom at least give something visual to work with.

I found 2E to be simpler than 1E once I learned it. 1E didn't feel too bad when I first started learning it, but the sheer number of special cases and options hidden in individual spells and so forth meant that the actual complexity ramped up fast. 2E much reduced the total complexity in the system, but at the cost of making it feel more intimidating because you had to learn it all up front.
Or that's how it felt to me, anyway. If I had come to 2E without ever having played 1E, I might have felt very differently about it, since I'd've had no 1E reflexes to unlearn.

Speaking English is easy if you already speak English. So if you already know, or mosty know, first edition then first edition will seem easy to you because it's not new.

I think 2E is actually a bit more complex, with all its various factors and reach. It's more uniform, in some ways, but even individual spells have reach effects.

The thing is, 1E had those things, but -you- as a player had to figure out how to apply them. in 2E its spelled out for you more plainly.

That said, I won't be spreading negativity in this thread. I just wanted to offer a dash of a compliment with my little backhanded comment.

Not sure who has had problems with who, but we've certainly shown a fair number of people the door, and put a stop to some things that we didn't want to see on the game.
Some people might not agree. But it's our game to run, and if we see a problem, we'll intervene in it.
