      I am not enjoying the task of giving my kitty subcutaneous fluids. He generally takes the first poke of the needle okay, but as he feels the water bolus starting to form, he gets super tense and jerks and I freak out that the needle is going to come out. It did once and shot saline all over the place. Funny, sorta. But his tension, it gets me.

      I'm just bummed. It makes me sad. Blarghl.

        So I decided to hang a white sheet over my front room door in order to dry. This apparently made Artemis decided she needed to lurk atop said door. Now she jumps onto the heads of those who dare enter:

        Also I am going to need to run another white load.

            We gained a visitor unexpectedly. She escaped from a neighbouring garden we think...

              In a little under an hour, we're heading off to pick up a flouf. I am so nervous!

              Our current flouf is a very social, gentle, loves-other-kitties cat. Alone, she was floundering badly and rapidly. We are pretty sure we've found her the perfect companion after a fair bit of heavy duty searching.

              She's a 3 year old momma cat, now spayed after having raised her wee ones, and she is perhaps the most adorable beastie ever.

              Aside from a few wee freckles on her nose, she is poufy and all white. (All the black tees in the house screamed out at once.) As a result, we've decided her middle name will be 'Gothsbane'.

              Will try to get some pictures when she starts to settle in. 🙂

              ETA: OMG, y'all. I will have to get some pictures later. She is such a doll, I'm utterly speechless. She was singing little chirps along with Queen (and only Queen) in the car, y'all. Otherwise just lounging and chill. I think I just won the cat lottery or something. o.o

              Oh fucking well.

                ...she has, of course, already found the dark laundry pile. Because of course she has.

                I'll just be over here in the corner, dead of cuteness. She's hard to get pictures of because she's been prancing and headbonking the camera every time I try. Her full name is now Tama Gothsbane McDaintysnoot, and she is an amazingly good snuggly lil girl.

                Oh fucking well.

                  @surreality I can sympathise, Hera, the Mug Smasher I posted a picture of recently, turned out to be infested with fleas. I got her treated for them then the next morning she snuggle cuddled me adorably.

                  When I turned on the lights and looked at my Egyptian cotton white sheets. Oooh god, they were littered with dead and dying fleas, hundreds of them. It was disgusting.

                  Then she stretched, purrbbbtted and ran ahead of me into the bathroom before flopping over like this and she was mostly forgiven:

                    @Packrat Between the two of them, none of our laundry is safe! ❤

                    They're like photonegatives of each other. Too cute!

                    Since I still can't get a picture of her face for all the headbonks, this is the one from the rescue site we got her from:

                    ...we melted. The wee freckles! I just about died.

                    I'd put in a search for what amounts to 'floufy girl not-kitten within 50 miles' and when she turned up in an alert, welp. I forwarded that along to my folks and my mother called immediately to yell, "EMAIL THEM RIGHT NOW! RIGHT NOW! SHE IS TOO CUTE! SHE'S PROBABLY GONE ALREADY!" into the phone. (They own the house we live in, so they get a say.)

                    Maybe the one time in recorded history I listened to my mother without argument. 😉

                    Oh fucking well.

                            So cute. So much cute. So well-behaved. So lovey.

                            ...but why did you have to be the cat equivalent of a morning person, flouflette?

                            The rescue sent a picture of her with her kittens she raised before she was readied for adoption. They were all found in a window well in a town about 45 minutes from here. They are a fleet of four nearly-identical white floufkittens.

                            Me: "We're probably lucky that wasn't our window. We'd have five new cats instead of one."
                            My mother, who usually glowers with alarm when such words come out of my mouth: "I keep saying no more cats, but, yep. We would."
                            <both nod somberly>
                            My mother: "...so do you think they've been adopted yet?"
                            <both get shifty-eyes>

                            (Pretty sure they have, but that reaction made me giggle.)

                            Oh fucking well.

                              Other facets of today may have sucked but my mom sent me a video of my kitty (my now 14 year old cat that I left with her in SC when I moved west cause she's too much an old lady for big moves and my mom loves having a lap cat around).

                                Our new puppy is super friendly, excitable and nice. She, however, doesn't love me - not specifically. She's happy enough to see me but no more that any stranger. She is, however, much happier around girls... which might be because she spent most of her young life in a shelter where the mostly female staff spoiled her.

                                Anyway yesterday I found myself bemoaning the fact to her. Dammit, I'm super nice to you, I give you treats, I walk you, I give you belly rubs and I feed you! Why won't you just love me?

                                And then it hit me. I'm an incel!

                                      I got 8/8 on the first quiz, 5/8 on the second.
