It's spiral pasta or nothing! Especially if you fry them in a pan after boiling so they become crunchy on the outside.

Pasta should only be crunchy before it's cooked.

I remember when you would write a desc and then commission an artist to draw it. Do people still do that? I miss it. I LOVED to see how a person took a desc and some personality questions and drew them.

As for realism. Meh. I don't really care about PB. Sometimes I will look at them to see what the player thinks their char looks like in their brain. Mostly, I jump on a wiki to look at known information to see what I can draw a story with. Or what color eyes/hair they have to add into my pose.

Yeah, but then you get the other end of the extreme -- pasta that's just a ball of mush.

Pasta should be chewy. Not soft enough you don't even need teeth for it.

This is why people that put pasta in soups and just let it sit there until it's all mushy and gross are going to a very special hell.

Depends on what you're doing with it, but I generally agree.
Pasta should not crunch, though. If you want crunchy pasta, add cheese and let it bake.

@Derp is referencing the horrible thing certain people do to mac and cheese which is put it in the oven and let it bake until it is crunchy pasta.

It's always the most disappointing thing to be served at a dinner.

Ew, no. I was referring to the top of an actual pasta bake, or a lasagne. The pasta itself isn't crunchy, but the cheese can get that way, so you get the crunch without ruining the rest of it for normal people.

Yeah, sometimes the first pasta layer of a bake or a lasagne gets crispy with the cheese. But no, god no.

Though mac and cheese in a light pastry and baked into a pie doesn't sound like a terrible idea...

Pastry is too much effort. Just toast a shitload of panko in some garlic butter and cover. You know you have the right amount when you can't see any of the mac and cheese underneath.

Hi. My name is RightMeow, I am a monster.

I bake my mac and cheese and put cheesy panko on the top. The noodles do not get crunchy (how does one do that in a milk and cheese sauce?) but the top has some crunch to it. I am not sorry at all. Not one little bit of sorrow. -- I also add Tabasco

Traditional breadcrumbs are smallish things that absorb a lot of moisture. Panko crumbs are bigger and a bit heartier. They can take more of a beating from moisture and still retain a lovely crunch.

The only real difference (I believe) is that panko is made from crust-less bread. There may be a difference in the drying method, but I think it's basically crust or no crust.
