World of Darkness 5th Edition Experiment
-
Hi all! A bit of an ADHD update this time, but with some serious progress. I finally took the time to sit down and learn Evennia. WoooaaaahhhH!!!
I've been having a blast working on Cyberpunk Red in the /hopes/ that there will be interest (Hard to find these days!) When my wife and a few others wanted to try out Vampire 5th edition with solid interest.
Couple that with my interest in the Werewolf 5th Edition, which comes out at the end of August. I decided to lay down some code and see where it goes.
I'm not sure if this is a full-on game or just a library for people to work off of. I honestly have minimal time to wrangle cats because of Job responsibilities.
Chargen is 'done' save for some data entry, Notes, Jobs is underway, BBS - the most challenging part about Evennia is the auxiliary code that must be written to have a playable MUSH-Like.
Let me know if you're interested in helping write/playtest. I'm keeping things extremely limited right now - and caveat that nothing may come from this experiment than a starting place for someone else.
Under Construction Repo (Alpha stage, be warned)
This week's /visual/ project is getting the data-entry pages for the wiki designed. Step one, toss boot-strap right into the garbage. -
Sounds fun!

@Kumakun Just because it came up in this post. I'm still heavily interested in Cyberpunk: RED. It's an interesting system, CP is a great theme, and so I feel like it'd translate well to a game. Though I'm big on Async play these days and am not sure if Evennia supports things like that?
I also live Vampire, so you are hitting on both of my gaming loves!

I was wondering just this morning why there weren't any 5e games popping up. The big ones are 20th anniversary from what I've seen and 5e's been out for a while. Anyway, sounds interesting!
(Still more excited for your Cyberpunk RED idea though!)

It's totally been a juggle. I need the same base systems for both games (A BB style system, a jobs system, a notes system, events, scenes, finger - etc.) It all has to be written from scratch.
Cyberpunk is a VERY close second for me. And, I think the work that I've been doing with V5 will just benefit being able to facilitate the more involved/complex systems of CP:R and then my ultimate goal: Mekton Zeta Plus.
There's a difference between coding these things, and RUNNING them however, and takes a special kind of person - if I'm being honest. I'll mark these projects as successful and done probably after a small beta period to make sure the code gets a good shake down.
I just feel these things need to exist as options.

Good for you, this is a cool project.
Being the v5 storyteller that I am, I've always found v5 to probably be the best version (mechanically) of WoD to apply to MUing.
- The disciplines are less about combat and having a massive dice pool. Even the more combat-used powers like Potence and Celerity have more "cinematic" options
- If needed, Chronicle tenets can be set
- Player-defined morality in convictions and touchstones
- The combat system flows much better than oWoD 3-v20 and nWoD
- Hunger as a mechanic is way better than blood points
There's simply just a lot more "story" in v5/w5 baked into the system that should lend really well to the MU hobby. That, and the Masquerade/Apocalypse setting is so much better than the Requiem/Forsaken setting.

Updates! I'm almost through the Auxiliary system hell. (Jobs, BB, Notes, etc.). This is probably the stuff I like writing the least - but I'm getting through it!
The character generation commands are buttery smooth and hopefully well laid out. I'll leave that to those that come in to test, though!
Grd building has started. It's so fun to see some of my old stomping grounds on the list - and cringe-worthy to see others (Outer SE).
There's still so much to do!
I've also been moving forward on the visual side of the build. Here's my current direction for the landing page and a wiki article.
Not a lot of updates, but steady progress.
Thanks for the read!
