I rarely play IC relationships with others, unless they're my actual RL partner, since I like to save that side of myself for that person, and it saves on drama.

That's a great policy to have; it stops it before it starts.

Do you have issues finding/maintaining RP with players once they find out you're not open to IC-relationship stuff? That was always kind of my issue: I was able to find a lot of available RP, but people would suddenly have "electrical storm" or "rl emergency" or "sorry gotta go" when it was established I wasn't into TS/relationship RP with the person.

Delete the Hog Pit. It'll be fun.

Nope. I've had loads of folks RP my character's besties, coworkers, frenemies, found family, actual family... even unrequited suitors.

Even when I have done IC romances, for many years I've been very up-front about being exclusively FTB. Never had anyone be like: "Oh well in that case... poof."

Might come down to the games, dunno.

I will say that when it happened it usually on WoD games , and on one occasion I had someone paging me asking about my RL kinks. I can't remember how I worded it, but I was polite about it and said I'd just rather rp it through and even then (when they could have just said something like "sounds like we aren't compatible writing partners, gonna move on, good luck" and moved on) they still used some excuse about needing to pick someone up.

It wasn't constant by any means, but I'd say maybe 1 in 10 new attempted rp partners.

I was once witness to a particularly gnarly incident where an RPer created an entirely separate character and Discord identity to catfish this one guy, marry, and ERP him. And later manipulate him into forgiving her original identity because by the way he fucking -hated- her.

So yeah. I respect stranger danger, especially identities that seem unestablished/dropped in. Because when people have complete anonymity at their fingertips, the only thing holding them back is not being a fucking psycho.

It goes against our desire to connect with each other, but really, don't share anything if you can avoid it. You never know who your new friend really is.

I don't have this issue either. Frankly, I prefer RPing with folks who take a similar position. I'm not against romance or sexual RP, but I RP from work a lot, and that's not the sort of RP I'd like when I'm trying to negotiate a seven-figure deal by email.
