Why not set it during the High point of Vampire culture? Perhaps They building new cities at the beginning of their Empire.

I was so fucking confused until I realized I was thinking about Hellsing, not Vampire Hunter D.

I feel like setting it during the high point would have some further limited options.

          1. Humans are a viable and fun thing to do in that setting, and during that period humanity is less of a viable option, since the vampires rule everything and many times they are High Lord Dickass to the humans in their territory.
          2. There's a LOT of terminology and setup to learn if you do actually use VHD as written. Dracula's grand society is... the Camarilla times ten, essentially, with bureaucracy and stuff.

It's not a perfect vampire society by any means (there's backstabbing, murder, politics, and such, the alien invaders the OSB and the Not-Cthulu worshippers), though.

My thoughts on an aftermath/current D-era game revolve around the ease of having say, 3 vampire vamilies who have a territory divided, build them to deal with their constituents directly (does one group support and respect humans like the Sacred Ancestor, are one group High Lord Dickass, are one group perpetually indifferent to their human tenants?).

Plus the 'downturn' of vampire society wildly varies from spot to spot. Some of it's about the death of vampires, but others are the slowing of any advancement of technology (for example, there's a technology developed that essentially warps space inside an object to be longer, so you'll have coffins that have mansions inside them) or the weight of ennui (a vampire who feeds on pretty women because he's bored as shit).

And of course, building your own thing and riffing off of it heavily is a viable option too.

I was wondering if there is a MU* about ladies and lords (middle ages) or ancient history, which wouldn't be build up according to the history of England, but more according to France or maybe something about Vikings? If no, that is what I would like to see these days.

I like primal games. Ones set before man tamed the world. I enjoy games where the primary conflicts are nature, disease, and disaster. And monsters or serpent-men with dark magics. Bronze Age or Stone Age preferred.

Something like Conan meets Far Cry: Primal. With an RP focus.

@Sovereign I could get behind that. Tribes.

Delete the Hog Pit. It'll be fun.

                        Kinda. Slowly.

Think I need to find a way to get some fun in first before I go full bore on work again, though.

It may eventually be a thing?

                        Oh fucking well.

Plugging away on my Mass Effect system, actually. It kind of sucks when you're the only author, but I wanted substantial control over how it would go down. Then again, when it is your ambition to describe all of the bloody powers and statuses, it can be time-consuming.

I'll need people to play-test the shit out of it, though. I got a sneaky suspicion that Turians and Krogan are going to be the overwhelming favorites.

Kushiel's Debut is literally set in an alternate history of France. Like, the actual, original definition of literally.

Plugging away at mine. I think there's a fairly big trade-off in how much time someone is willing to invest in initially in order to design systems that should (theoretically) save time in the long run by reducing staff work, so I can focus on narrative and creating RP for people down the road. I didn't want a sandbox which means trying to reduce abstraction and hand-waving in ways that players won't find annoying, and ideally have something that feels action-y and reduces staff reliance like an RPI but has the story and narrative of a MUX.

Chugging away on Theatre of Shadows as well. Like @Ganymede I've wanted to have a coherent setup, so I'm still going at it by myself. Holidays definitely put me behind though.

Yes, please. I am a big fan of Conan-style settings. Most of my tabletop DnD campaigns are in similar settings, because it;s the best setting for murderhobo-ing.

I want to see something akin to World of Darkness.

However, tell the magic to piss off and die - I would really like to see fully thought out organic, biological vampires and lycanthropes vs humanity. Much like as seen in American Vampire books.
