The Realms Adventurous is a game of high fantasy, low magic, set in the time of King Arthur Pendragon. Utilizing the rules of the same name, we seek to follow the dynastic stories of knights and their families, the nobles and ladies of the courts. Chargen is open to members of other classes, commoner and clergy alike. We plan to have regularly scheduled events aside from just feasts and tournaments, but these will occur regularly as well. If you want to partake in knightly adventures, mystical quests, battles of conquest and glory, and possibly indulge in courtly intrigue, we may have what you seek.

The systems are still being hammered out, but chargen is up and running and basic systems allow for play already. Our center of play is in line with the core rule book, we are focused on the county of Salisbury and our PC knights and nobles will be vassals of Earl Robert, son of Roderick de Salisbury.

With a recent transition of staff and location, we are reopening play with a flashback of the Autumn of 514 and Winter Phase for the first two weeks before we return to active play starting in the Spring of 515. There are plenty of positions open and we're open to answer any questions you may have! We are also looking for storytellers to help with plot and RP!

Will intrigues be RP only based, or will there be skills created to cover it?

How do you plan to keep character death and retirement from allowing massive gathering of properties under a few families? Usually this can be prevented by the unknown other members of family and government with claims, but in this setting, you can have a family tree fully defined and then emptied.

I have a waggish sense of humor.

There is an Intrigue skill currently - I believe that Nimue is working on skills that may fall under it.

As far as departing players goes, we will have NPCs in some, some families have other characters that can step up. We're staying true to the fact that one player can have only one HoH character to prevent the landgrabs.

I assume that means there must be one Head of Household per listed holding in the county, which would prevent one Household absorbing the lands of another?

As a purely creative idea, you might consider allowing non-religious "knightly bonuses" for achieving a set of Virtues/Vices that fit a strong archetype. Examples might be the dangerously ambitious Noble, the Steward, or the Respected Entertainer. Instead of combat based bonuses, they could earn something to add to their skills, or perhaps a way to earn honor or avoid losing Honor for some actions.

I have a waggish sense of humor.

              Correct!

I'll bring up the idea to the others, see what they think - it could be a great idea.

So I got lost in the book The Crystal Cave this afternoon, which is an Arthurian story told from Merlin's point of view (starting before Arthur with Uther). It has a cool mix of British and Roman/Ancient stuff going on. Anyone know if this game has a similar feel?

Talk about a dick move ....

The db was given over freely so the game could continue, the new staff said old staff could stay. I don't care, I'm not going along, I'm on to new other things.

But literally less than a week after the move .... my co-head staff that helped spur the idea to try the place, helped build stuff on the wiki ... the same one that get me going to give password for the god bit and get the right db back up to the new head staff was removed from royalty and locked in the freezer for no apparent reason when they were still trying to help?

I don't care about the game and how it changes, its out of my hands, but the same ooc mistreating people from the new administration ...

I'm just a surge protector doing my job, sir.

Perhaps someone could make a similar game with a newer game system and game goals in mind? Pendragon has a ton of raw information in it, and would be easy to convert to another system if that was desired.

This sucks and, even if you're done with the place, it's awful to think you've left something you created in the hands of people you can't trust.

@Lotherio Sorry to hear that happened, it was a good game, one I really enjoyed and felt challenged by. Though this just helps reinforce my decision to retire my character instead of carrying over since the new people who were taking over are very suspect.

I know Cirno tried to log back in under 'Jane' and got summarily booted again.

The staffbits of the former version were debitted to transfer items easier. I'm sorry that they were freezered, they were placed there because none of the alts had logged in a week, so it was assumed that neither SK or Merlin were going to visit. We did ask all staff if they would make the transition, and were told 'maybe' at best, but not likely, as plans were already underway for a new venture. We will be happy to restore them to grid if you want, and it was a simple misunderstanding on whether or not any of the staff planned to stay. You, Merlin, and Madoc are still welcome as Royalty, and I hope this clears up any confusion.

Your character bits were not freezered and still had full IC access. We were still waiting to learn whether or not you would return to play them, considering positions that some held.

Merlin had logged in a couple of times to the new place. Our char bits didn't hold any key positions. Completely removed as wiki admin. I was on the final week dark, spoke with Nimue daily, who has me e-mail. I responded to pm's here. Misunderstanding I'll go with, but could of let Merlin know, who was around and has talked with new staff after the move.

I'm not denying there wasn't communication errors - on both sides. The old site was closed down a day before planned and for nearly a full day there was no forwarding address.

These things happen, you're still welcomed. As far as the wiki goes, you'd have to talk to Nimue, but as you made it clear that you did not want anything to do with the new game, I'd assume that would mean the wiki as well.

@Lotherio For what it's worth (and you know who is this), you're welcome to join my place anytime. I'll get in touch with Merlin soon and ask if she wants to help me with some stuff, too.

PS: Are dick moves what the few people that linger behind can expect from Glaw: the Game?

I think this is a pretty good sign of why a lot of us aren't staying.

The whole Glaw/Gwyanelle thing was always a bit eye-rolly, and from what I heard they clashed with Kay and gave him some grief over not getting what amounted to special treatment above the rest of the playerbase. How he came to the decision of handing things over to them, I can't imagine, but I'm not surprised to see them being a little bit less than honest once they're holding the keys. I have few doubts you'll quickly see the things Kay told them 'no' over quickly come into being now.

@deadculture is probably a better reference since he's more up on some of the staff-side discussions, or @Lotherio, obviously.

My understanding is that after the initial setup (where Gwyanelle apped the heiress with no living relatives) Glaw was assuming he'd marry her and become a baronet after joining their manors, which is possible but not guaranteed given the very bottom level knighthood in Pendragon (ie enfoeffed manors being expected to outfit a knight each for the Earl).

I guess Kay told them no after a lot of arguing/bitching, which is when you saw staff put up the post about the new, young, not-very-experienced heir being app-able for Idmiston. I heard they also didn't want to have to deal with the dice for pregnancy and had already decided Gwyanelle was, and weren't happy with the lack of control over their characters in Pendragon in general.

Again, this is mostly hearsay, so take it as that.

Can confirm first one; it wound up developing into a circular conversation with Glaw that was preceded by something about 'concerns' about the game's consent rules, and subsequently into the inheritance of Idmiston, which he wanted as a dowry. He was told no, so a 2 hour conversation ensued.
