@Ghost I haven't played a SW game... well, ever, but I'd be willing to give one a chance. Let's see how it goes.

On a side note: Even staff won't play NPCs. We will have an NPC catalog of stormtroopers, hutt bounty hunters, mercenaries that will add ambience to the scene and assist with combat. Kylo Ren, General Organa, Snook, Luke all of them will be similar to Queen Elizabeth for Canada. She is "technically" the head of state, but you never see her, only read about her, and she has no power. Each faction will have a PC leader. IE: The First Order will have PC leader...who will "answer" to Snook, and it will be assumed that his orders will come from Snook. But no staff will play Snook. You would only EVER see him in very special scenes and ONLY to add ambience, NEVER to tip the scales.

This is essentially how we handled canon FCs for our Mass Effect original character theme @ Alpha & Omega and it worked very well.

Question... IIRC Jedi/Sith types will be playable - but they don't seem to exist in this time period in canon. How will that work?

I believe what they're saying is that you will have the option to play Force users of both a light and dark bent. They won't necessarily be Jedi or Sith, but the concept remains the same. Also, I would put money down that Snokes has more than just Kylo Ren up his sleeve.

@Miss-Demeanor Well, that's what I suspect, but I wanted to know for sure what the theme supports while I'm considering concepts.
Plus "Jedi" or "Sith" is much cooler to me than "Light/Dark-inclined Force user", although obviously YMMV.

The website lists factions including (Force Sensitive), Knights of Ren and Church of the Force. I don't speak for the game, but from what I gather, Jedi/Sith will be mostly replaced by Jedi/Ren, where the Church of the Force is not so much the Jedi order, but more so a group trying to reestablish the Jedi. I imagine any grade of force-sensitive, lightsaber wielding or not, can nestle into any faction in cool ways, too: mercenaries, corporation, butt cartels, the Resistance...

Note, @Fantom per my villain-based policy idea post, I have decided to pony up and will be aiming to make a villain character on Rogue, one to give protagonist characters a force to bump heads against.

No opening date as of yet.
We are not IC. Still coding systems and building the HSpace universe. Because summer is upon us, most of my staff are out and about doing summer type things, so its mostly me myself and I doing almost everything. Not even 10 hours/day seems to make a dent.
If you know anyone who is interested in helping code and/or @dig, let me know. I need a partner damn it lol

@Fantom A piece of advice: Enjoy your life, don't burn out working on this project.. After all most of your players are also out and about doing summer type things - do the same if you're so inclined. We'll be here.

I can't tell you how much this "swrmud.com" thing throws me. The moment I see 'mud" I mentally discard it as whatever. I've no interest in playing a Star Wars MUD >.>
