No one is saying people can't make a game portraying anything they like. Just that if it's supposed to be based on a specific continuity then it should reflect that continuity's characters.
If it's not then of course people can play anything they want. Shang has any known variation of canon characters imaginable for instance and I see nothing wrong with that.
Your argument is silly at the end of the day, because essentially, they can say "this game follows canon continuity, with the exception that the characters can and are encouraged to be gay". That's it. I haven't read their news files but it is at least implicit, if not explicitly, so. And that's enough.
In any case, I think @DnvnQuinn meant some of the other complaints, re: "what, no room for lesbians?" etc. I could be wrong, but hey.

@Coin I'm not referring to sexuality here but any significant departures for the character. For example I wouldn't like playing on a MU* that's portraying regular DC continuity but the Batman player is killing criminals because that's the version he wants, or where he's married to Selina Kyle.
I don't think that's silly but YMMV of course.

Maybe I'm reading this badly, but I feel like this thread has descended into everyone arguing on the same side against people who posted once or twice at the beginning and haven't turned up since, and misinterpreting what side everyone else is on.
And plus, isn't it an Advertisement? I feel like this is no longer about this specific game, and more about what people find acceptable as far as thematic limitations go.

Everyone is better served if a game description is accurate and explicit.
It is a disservice to allow players to spend time on what is stated, but is inaccurate. In this case: characters as written, and lesbians.

Because neither of those versions constitute 'regular DC continuity' which is what the premise for the game in my example was.

I mean, sure, but where is the right spot? Making a hog pit thread to bag on it seems a little excessive (or a lot excessive). It's not at all unusual to have advertisements trail off on tangents about what people think about the stated info/reaching for clarification.

For sure, but this is no longer a discussion about the merits of Flights n' Tights. It's about whether playing Killer Batman on a DC continuity game is acceptable.
All I'm saying is... If it was my post designed to drum up interest in my game, I'd probably be feeling like it derailed slightly.

And anyway, my previous reply clarifying what i thought @DnvnQuinn meant was because you seemed to basically just make it about what you were talking about instead of inferring their actual point. You had already stated the other opinion (which is why all you did was quote it). I did briefly stop by the game, ages ago, out of sheer curiosity. As a gay male, I guess I fit the demographic of the place. Unfortunately, though, while sexy pretend times can be fun... once in a while (with a good reason for it to happen, character development-wise), the focus on most of the RP I encountered was the Pizza Delivery porn flavor. It isn't really a place for character development combined sexy funtimes, it seems like it's just mostly sexy funtimes
Which is totally fine if that's your speed, but not for me. But power to them for going with it! In the brief time I was there, I never felt unwelcome or ill at ease, so one of the goals of the place is working, at least.
But back on topic... I really don't understand the outrage. I mean, say, a gay guy wants to create a sex club that caters exclusively to guys who want to do other guys... are we really going to spring into full outrage mode and demand he allow women, or vituperate him for excluding women from... a gay... male... sex club? It rather seems the heights of ridiculousness.
I mean, it'd be like someone demanding to play a Male Amazon in Themyscira because it's unfair that men are exclu-

I'm really confused where anyone is getting 'outrage' from the posts in this thread. The closest thing to it I saw is @ixokai's discomfort with what feels to him like creepy fetishization of a group to which he belongs (which I, at least, think is a totally reasonable reaction) and even that wasn't even in the same area code as what I consider 'outrage'.
Honestly, I don't think I saw a single criticism of this game that I'd rate much higher than 'eyerolling'.

@Ninjakitten I think it's that initially, the OP's (clear, positive, nothing in the world wrong with it) post got hammered in downvotes, for the most part. Which was kinda shocking and more than a little sad.
(It may be the former collective of trolls with their latest crop of sockpuppets, which doesn't seem horribly unlikely, but I guess we'll never really know.

There's so much weirdness about downvotes I've stopped using them, even though I kinda like having a way to convey mild disagreement that's not worth posting, as well as mild agreement that's not worth posting.
This game is not a thing for me but there are certainly stranger pseudo-sex games online, so good luck to them I guess.
