City of Angels MUX (CofD/nWoD 2E)
-
I'm just going to keep making threads because, whatever.
I'm bad at keeping secrets and ran out of people to ask on the downlow, so just going to ask here.
City of Angels MUX, is going to be a Chronicles of Darkness/nWoD 2E multisphere game (Werewolf, vampire, mage, and mortal(+)), set in Los Angeles, CA. (We're original in our name! :D). I'm looking for folks who are interested in helping contribute to make this thing happen.
Here's what I have:
- Code (I don't really need help here, I have myself and @Thenomain and probably @skew since he's been a nosey parker so now he gets to help).
- Grid/+Map (I have a map/grid, which I am slowly digging out).
- Werewolf Lead.
- Vampire Lead (probably).
Here's what I need:
- Help @desc'ing Los Angeles/the grid (if you just pull information off of wikipedia and stick it in the grid square, i'm happy, okay?)
- Mage Lead
- Mortal(+) Lead
- Potentially wiki help
Some design things:
- We'll be going with the Greater Downtown and South Central areas, with the possibility of Santa Monica later OR if someone really wants to desc Santa Monica.
- We'll not have an over-all-gamewide metaplot.
- Each sphere will have its own plot arch designed to last 3-6months (generally speaking).
- I dunno. Other things.

No Demon then? That's a pity.

Demon is fundamentally not very good on a MU* from everything I've heard about it. The aspect of ULTRA secrecy above and beyond the other splats is often times not fun, ignored, or taken to the extremes. The idea of the ever presence of angels and the god-machine is also a lot of staff work.

Yeah we really just need a Demon MU*. And it should really be set in the 80's BECAUSE WHY NOT TWO THINGS I CAN NEVER HAVE

@Cobaltasaurus
Those are all very fair points.
It's not a game that is friendly to the Splat Secret Pillow-talk that some players are prone to doing; considering the moment someone begins the pillow-talk the rolls begin.
While I will say that having played through Demon on one game, that a lot of the splat's staff involvement can be resolved through +requests. There are just some aspects that would outright require direct staff involvement, such as being Blown.

I thought @Autumn just volunteered.

There is a book to convert cWoD demon to CofD Demon/GMC. By leveraging a like approach one could bring in demon in an interesting way that doesn't need to leverage the godmachine side of things or the secret operative portion. In this way the staff overhead would decrease and demon players would be able to roll in events with other players without a lot of problems. Another thought would be to just do away with that portion and have the whole thing be more like the masq or how the werewolves on 2e do it.
-
Is there somewhere that a part-timer interested party could pitch in? Building or something? Would like to help with limited time, if nothing more than to get re-acquainted with the game system.

I would love to see this set in the 80s, because OMG 80s LA. I know this is very unlikely to happen, but... I still pine.

Plz take 80s demon game to another thread
@Rook; if you'd be interested in helping @desc parts of LA that'd be awesome.

Having staffed on a game that did Demon, I can say with some degree of confidence that their powers would need to be scaled waaaay the hell back if it's going to be run in any sort of massively multiplayer fashion.

@Derp I hate to reply with a meme, but not really I love memes:

If history has proven anything, it's that I am a waste of a perfectly good staff bit. I think, no false modesty, that I would be a disastrous TL.
Also: hate you guys so much
-
If no one wants to volunteer for mage, anyone got suggestions on someone to be voluntold? :]
This weekend I plan to dig out the rest of the grid @skew gave me a perfectly good program that'll help making the grid a little bit faster.
-
Is there even a rough timeline for when this game is meant to open or are you guys still at the early stages so not thinking about that?

Once I have someone to staff mage and/or vampire is cemented, I can give you a timeline. I need go through and put in mage (should take me like a couple of hours at most, tbh if that), and do the grid.
So like: Soonish? But more will have to wait until I find storytellers for things.
-
@Cobaltasaurus If you need a Storyteller count me in. I don't staff any more but I will run PrPs.

If staff has to be directly involved in TS on this game I'd really have to argue against so much micromanagement.
