Do you include tablets under the same category?

That's a good point. I'd say the usage is more similar to mobile, so I'd probably throw it under mobile.

I don't use mobile if I can help it. I have logged in from the tablet while traveling, as I have no laptop, if I have staff responsibilities somewhere. I gave it a shot twice for RP and just found it non-possible; either the connection kept dropping or the typing was just too much of a pain in the ass since I can't text very quickly or effectively, let alone write creatively.

            Oh fucking well.

I put 'sometimes' because there isn't a 'once in a blue moon' option. If my connection goes out mid-scene? I'll hop on from my phone to let people know. If I'm out somewhere, alone, and bored out of my skull? I might sign on to chat.

But I don't RP from it. And if I do login from my phone, it's usually just to chat or watch RP if my conn died / warn people that it did.

I have MU*'d and MUDed via phone, but very very rarely, and mainly for OOC communication purposes.

I have a waggish sense of humor.

I log in to read posts and occasionally catch people for chan chatter/pages on my phone often enough.

I never scene on my phone. The lack of a physical keyboard is probably keeping me from doing it more than anything lacking in the phone clients out there, and I'm not sure how you'll ever overcome that.

I used to have a phone with a physical QWERTY (the slide-out kind) that I did scene on a few times. It was awkward as hell but doable. I find touch-screen keyboards terribad in general and for this in particular, but capitalism seemingly won't support a QWERTY phone for me anymore. Woe, and such.

ETA: I'm tempted to get a Microsoft Surface in part because I could MUSH on the damn thing and carry it around in my purse, I'll admit. But this is a horrible reason to buy anything that expensive, so I haven't yet given in.

@Three-Eyed-Crow I am sorta lucky in that regard. The new mac keyboard (the 'magic' keyboard) is a wireless bluetooth one. It's slightly longer than my tablet but not by too much, and can pair with my tablet (or even phone) as easily as it does with the desktop. It fits in a purse about as well as the tablet does.

Technically, I can just take the desktop keyboard with me -- so there's not even a 'change the keyboard scale awkward typing period' -- but I find I didn't really use it unless I specifically was setting up to use it and knew from the jump that I would need to, because there's still some fuss to set stuff up, and if I'm out and about and doing things that have me out of the house, 'I'm going to set up to go do RP things' is generally pretty far down on the priority list. I don't travel often (we do one vacation once a year for a little over a week), though, so YMMV, and I could see people who travel more often or travel for work finding that pretty handy.

                    Oh fucking well.

Look into the Logitech K811 for easy multi-syncing, so you don't need to constantly re-sync that keyboard. Also, backlit.

@Thenomain Will do when it comes time to replace this one. I tend to kill a keyboard at least once a year, so it's always good to know about good options, thank you!

I put half the time, because for the last few years, any time I'm at work I'm on my kindle. On very, very rare occasion I log in from my phone, but purely out of necessity.

I would use it more if Android had a half-decent client that I could get into. 😞

                              I always liked Mukluk.

Then you need a good SSH client on your mobile 🙂

FWIW, Prompt 2 on IOS is superb for those who are iDrones like myself.

This is what I ended up doing. I had way more keyboard control than in Mudrammer (iOS app).

I definitely prefer mukluk over blowtorch. I can't see what I'm typing in blowtorch and that drives me nuts.

I can't stand blowtorch. CANNOT STAND. Mukluk is tolerable in a pinch but I prefer, you know ... being on a computer.

@Thenomain Plus, that way you can use GNU screen! And it's easier to keep all your logs organized.
