Android Client other than Mukluk?
-
Since mukluk offers no notifications on activity in other worlds, it's a pain parking my PC in public while mostly staying in my staffwindow. Are there any better Android clients?
Conversely, are there web-based clients that would work with amdroid?
Something with Simplemu/potato's functionality but for mobile would be wonderful. I am ill so I mush from bed and it would be nice to have more use out of my phone.

I'm happy with Mukluk, myself. But, I think that BlowTorch offers activity notification like you're looking for.
Once upon a time, I also used AndroMud, but I can't remember if they offer activity notification.

I believe Mike is/was working on a Potato version for Android. I've no idea whether it's still in development or whatnot, however.

It does, but is unfortunately worse than Mukluk in other areas. Or at least was when I tried it. I couldn't have more than one session open at a time (so no multi-mushing on my phone), and it tended to time out if I wasn't active for a stretch. You can tell it's built for MUDing, where you'd be constantly active in one window, though I found it functional enough for popping in to check mail and stuff.

I rather enjoy BlowTorch. Its pretty basic, but does what he says on the box. Never had anything buggy with it. If there is a Potato for Android, I'd probably switch to it though.

This is also an android thing. It will kill non-essential data, especially if on wifi, if you have been idle for a bit. It's a feature meant to conserve battery life and prevent data overages (if not on wifi). Some models offer an option to disable this.

If I'm off topic please tell me to STFU but has anyone used an external keyboard to MU* on a device? Typing a lot of text even on a tablet's touch screen feels icky for me.
-
Yeah, I had a bluetoorh kybd that I used for my phone and tablet.
-
It's missing some letters though, apparently.

Blowtorch stopped functioning on my Android. I miss the days of phones with keyboards. Those were so convenient.

@Ominous Sometimes I think a Surface might be the perfect MUSHing station.

It is not, at least not with the Touch/Type Cover keyboards.

An old crappy laptop with some flavour of Linux on it is the best MUSHing station.

Ugh, never again.
-
Having a dedicated MU and IRC piece of crap was the best idea I ever had.

I thought about that, but a laptop comes with charger bricks, it's heavy (more so than a tablet) and gets hot in your lap.
My ideal MU*ing station would be something I can easily use while watching TV on a couch or recliner. But a guy can dream.

@Arkandel I use a tablet, but have peripherals, so I can mush from bed (I can't sit up for too long).

You must speak of these peripherals!

@Arkandel just a usb hub, keyboard and gaming mouse. A bluetooth setup would be more useful.
