What Do You Collect?
-
@tek Remind me to pick up a few Chick Tracts for you from the magical Exxon megaplex we always stop at on the road to Florida. They're extra special, and they almost always have a broad selection.
-
I collect unusual dice, unusual lighters, pouches, little trays/trinket bowls, and magnets. Pretty normal stuff I guess. Oh, and little knives/multi-tools, they're just too cute.
-
@surreality !!!! Chick tracts are my favourite!!
-
Have you considered Sithrak Tracts? They are from Oglaf (completely not safe for work but also completely hilarious).
-
My musical instrument collection has expanded with a bunch of $2-3 ocarinas. (I use them mainly as gifts for children whose parents annoy me so they won't be in my collection for long.)
In the relatively near future there will be an instrument that's like a Chinese flute mated with a harmonica (and this was not tender, loving mating!) and a musical duck call (protip: not its real name). You have NO idea how excited I am about that second one.
-
@WTFE Okay those are freaking adorable. I just...argh! Too cute.

The ultimate Chick Tract: Dark Dungeons.
Once upon a time, a good buddy of mine apped Marcie on an Amber-themed game. In the app, he wrote that she totally faked her death to have real adventures with my character, who was one of Florimel's kids. Good times.

I collect playing cards myself, but none so fancy as WTFE's. I'm gonna try to photograph my collection, but I'm a) lazy, and b) have nowhere to keep it other than the boxes it's in.
But I had to pull this one out, as it's one of my favorites:
-
You bastard! Now I have to find these!
-
So my musical instrument collection has expanded by two today. The second one came too late in the day, however, for me to take a decent photo so I'm only going to show the one right now. I'll edit and add a new photo tomorrow for the other.
Today's addition:
Or as I like to call it, the "musical duck call". (Or, now that I've held it in my hands, the "musical concussion-dealing stick"…)
-
So it took a bit longer to get up than I thought. So I decided to do this in a separate message as a result. So sue me.
I'll just snip the explanation for here:
This is what you get when a 笛子 (transverse bamboo flute) mates with a harmonica. And when I say "mates" here I don't mean "a mommy flute and a daddy harmonica love each other very much"-style mating. This is the result of hate sex. Purest grudge coupling. I mean who thought of this insanity? A free reed mounted transversally in what is otherwise a flute. It sounds OK (albeit the low, low, low price I paid for mine is showing; I'm having to do a lot of bending to just bring it into tune!). I'd say it even sounds nice once you get a clear tone out of it. The problem is that it's very limited in range (one octave plus one note) and … it's just weird!
-
Next, links to WTFE playing these instruments! Yay!

I don't know if I'd say I collect any of these yet, but I did just get this in the mail the other day, my first from the site:

The musical instrument collection is on hold for a while. I have two more I'm eyeing (higher-grade cousins of the grudge-fucking harmonica-flute) but that won't happen for months, if ever. Also the "musical duck call" I showed above is one that now has me interested in learning to play competently so I've actually bought a few extras for it (cases, etc.). These aren't of particular interest, however, in terms of collecting musical instruments so I won't be showing them here. They're in the collection if you absolutely must see them.
In addition, my latest round of buying playing cards is at an end with these two decks:
These are decks that, embarrassingly enough, come from my neck of the woods yet which I utterly failed to become aware of until I'd reached what I thought was the end of my card purchasing spree.
Now I have reached the end. Unless I've missed more, of course…
There is no visible end to the kitschy Maomorabilia that I find so endearing, though. I think I could collect this for all of eternity and still never run out. Latest joiners of the collection:
