Realms - Sir Kay - Lotherio

The guy likes to lie.
He likes to convince games to let him become a coder, then creates 'back doors' for himself while stealing code, DBs, etc.
He'll start new games and then abandon them.
He'll read players +mails, become possessive over female players and use what he finds in +mail against them.etc etc.
Lotherio is so very much not this guy. -
Yep, Ares from BSG Pegasus = Azrael from Game of Kings.
And I'll vouch for what @Auspice just said. Especailly the reading of +mail. That was something really liked to do.
-
I know some people (I've cleared it up with the important ones, like Dropkick) thought I might be involved in the stealing of Orion's DB. I wasn't.
Ares approached me on Orion (when Aria was running it) and said he was making his own BSG game. As I was utterly unable to get involved in Orion after Dropkick had left and was definitely on the 'outside' of Aria's clique, I said sure. I was initially just a player on Pegasus and later made staff. Once I was made staff, I began to discover shit. Like how he stole Orion's DB. That he puts in tools to spy, to read +mails, and even coded backdoors (there was one lingering on Orion when it was rebooted).
I tried to make the best of it, since the game had active players, but I was only set Royal (so I couldn't fully strip out anything that was Orion's) and he just up and abandoned the game because he began doing photography IRL.

Ah, right. This was the same guy who was Bryant(sp) on Deimos, I believe. I remember DK telling me about him. Ugh. People are so fucking skuzzy. I swear.
-
The short version is: BS Orion was recruiting staff as part of a late-period effort to jump start the game (people had their frustrations with its staffers which I think are legit, but I'm not going to touch that, except that I think there's a pretty big difference between personality conflicts/disagreements with how someone is running something, and actual, legit malfeasance). Ares Player was a pretty active PrP runner for the Marines at the time and offered to take on a bit. And this is the part I want to stress: HE WAS WORKING ON HIS OWN GOMO-BSG GAME DURING THIS TIME AND CONTINUED TO WORK ON IT AFTER BECOMING STAFF. I don't know how much 'db theft' there actually was, but he definitely used his bit to peek at how the FS3 code there was customized and how the grid was set up and copy it (and a lot of wiki stuff was heavily borrowed from it in the beginning as well, but this is wikidot and he did not per se need a staff bit to steal that). From this came BS Pegasus (after that opened he stopped being staff at Orion, obviously). I had a pretty low opinion of Ares by this point and did not stick around Pegasus, so other people can talk about how he ran it into the ground.
There was a giant WORA thread on Game of Kings, another game I didn't play, and I'm pretty sad it's gone (the WORA thread, I am not sad this game is gone). But that's all drama I heard second-hand, never actually played there.
ETA:
@Auspice
Jesus fucking Christ I didn't know the half of it. Fuck that guy. People like him are the biggest argument around for a good use boards like this serve. HE IS A FUCK DON'T PLAY ON HIS GAMES I MUST TELL THE PEEEEEEEEEEEEEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!111111ONEONEONEELEVEN. -

I'm actually the reason he left Deimos. I played Kingsley.
He had a huge butthurt fit that I picked a different parajumper char over his for a mission. The reason I picked the other chick? Her PC was from the world the mission was on. Thus she was a PJ AND knowledgeable local. This was explained to the guy. Repeatedly.
And he still tried to bitch at me. Then he went to someone else and had a crying fit over how I was being mean to him. She attempted to mediate and asked me what was up. I explained it. I explained WHY I chose the other PC. She went 'Oh, that makes total sense!'
...and because she didn't side with him, he did a 'OMG I'M QUITTING EVERYONE HERE IS TERRIBLE.'
I got a loooooooot of grateful pages that night. >.>
(BTW, for those not in the know, Orion is back up and running under Dropkick. Old chars can come back (if they didn't like, die on camera obvs), new chars can be made, and Retrograde has approved transfers from Deimos. I've got dumps of everyone's +sheets from Deimos, FYI: http://www.bsorion.com) -
Posting as Dropkick.
Wiki is freely available material. I've maintained for years that Orion's wiki is available for use for a BSG game as a base and can be modified in any way to start a new BSG game. Full stop, no exceptions. That wiki is extensive and some of the files date all the way back to Pacifica, which was about a decade ago. Wiki licenses also back up this assertion. If anyone ever wants to start one, let me know and I'll help get you set up and transfer everything back to admin ownership.
Stealing a database to start your own game is, in a word, shit. That contains private information, including IP addresses, personal mails, and a whole mess of other items. Especially on FS3. You need to trust your admin and headwiz. When we rebooted Orion we found multiple security points of contention that were not there when I left. Retro eliminated everything and we killed all trace of Reed on the rebooted game. I can personally attest that the stuff he has done on games and to players is an absolute violation of privacy.
Do not join a game he runs.
Sir Kay is not this person.

So many dishonest people on the internet (yeah, I know, what a shock, right?). Fuck.
-
I liked playing at the Realms. I enjoyed Sir Kay's staffing. I played Talfryn. Was sorry to see you go, and then the game to just dissolve after you left. I'm a sucker for games of that style- I love knights, lords, ladies and all that. Always been a sucker for those themes.
Hope you're having fun with your new game, Kay/Lotherio. It was fun while it lasted, hope to see you somewhere else I've got interest for!

Did the people who took over Realms of Adventure ever say why their new direction didn't pan out?

90% of the playerbase left.
And one of the new staffers... I know he made me and a few others feel uncomfortable. He would try to heap special attention & plot on female PCs he liked. I try to tell myself that he just meant well and was being friendly, buuuuuut... I dunno. I tried to stick around, but there just weren't many people left and he was making me feel really uncomfortable. Orion re-opened and I just ended up focusing my attention there.
-
Odd people were so intent on making another game, but didn't even poll to see how many people were interested in such.
-
@Auspice That's because the guy was more than mildly creepy and projecting onto other people.
Assuming it's the guy I'm thinking about. SirKay and I certainly thought, back then, something was incredibly off about him.

Oh, pretty sure it is.
Since I was mostly active on my male PC at the time he was around, I didn't deal with it terribly much. But the trying to 'claim' female PCs on pubchan on his Staff bit was just over the top for me. -
Yes, there was a little concern when I heard he was going to be staff at new place. Over zealous in some instances, I think its the way he is, which makes it worse when the word 'relationships' gets mixed in there.
On a side not, yes I am doing good, enjoying the realm of light hearted supers. Its just meant as a little haven, go, have fun when ever, not a deep meta to focus on so that people can run their own plots and adventures when/if they like. Always enjoyed supers for this very reason, good to have one for OCs out there.

He'll become posessive over female players ( that sounds like a terrifying ordeal) (I've experienced that' kind of poessiveness from a male player.. and it was CREEPY (Creeptastic, creepity creepy creep. Kind of bad.)

to give him some credit, it does seem to be more over the PC than the player. As I'm FAIRLY sure he knew one PC (who was married to my PC, which is why I'd get kinda miffed at the 'on channel' attempts to 'claim' her) had a male player.
