I got it for I think $10 and have zero regrets it's super idk early achewood-ish and I love it but it IS s u p e r short
-
@theonceler If you're into JRPG's, I highly recommend getting Octopath Traveler. I got a Switch for Christmas as well and I'm enjoying the old-school feel of the game.
-
So, I finally picked up Battletech.
Man, it takes forever to refit my mechs. At least, that's what it seems like.
And why does my Vindicator pilot suck so badly at hitting shit? That's, like, the thing she's supposed to do. Just shoot. Shoot shit, bitch.

@Ganymede
Have you lost Dekker yet? -
PSA : If you aren't stoked af for Kingdom Hearts 3, the little kid inside you is dead.

Confession...
I have never played a Kingdom Hearts game.

I've played.... most of the very first Kingdom Hearts game.

@Auspice First game, in terms of controls, is a shitty KH game to have only played. 2 is so much better. The remakes are... weird for controls, but have story. But they were spread out over different consoles so it makes sense you only played the first one. But those controls, man!

I mean, it was interesting, conceptually, but I guess it didn't really grab me like it did other people!
I do recall it feeling really clunky and kind of annoying to play. Maybe that was why it didn't grab me. I just remember getting to one boss fight and never being able to get past it.

@Tempest
My brother was eager to get the game until he learned that you either had to get in on the limited edition $60 Story So Far game put out to catch up with everything that was in the prior games OR you had to keep up and buy/play those other games to know what was going on, going into 3. -

Of course not. He got injured once, but that's it.
My Spider usually pulls out of a mission with only light damage, and has, in fact, disabled a Shadow Hawk all on his own.
I grew up on 3025, bitches. This is my jam.
-
@Ganymede
The first few weeks when the game was out, HBS did a poll and Dekker was the most killed character in the game. It was pretty amusing the memorials people were writing to him. -

You can pull specific mechs out of a mission?
Why the hell didn’t the tutorial tell us this?!
-
By end game my Decker was still alive and was piloting my 'light' mech.
So, a 70 ton Grasshopper loaded entirely with medium and small lasers for maximum murder disco.
-
I was never any good at the old Battletech. I'm probably not any good at the new Battletech, but damn it all if I don't want to try my hand at piloting a mech again.
-

Poor wording. I meant "finishes a mission."
The Spider is the fastest Mech out there. When scouting, you basically need to run as fast as you can with someone with decent Piloting and probably the Sensor Mark skill. That's it. Keep running around like a maniac because stopping means you'll get mud-stomped by a Striker vehicle, and that's just damn embarrassing.
If the enemy focuses on trying to track your Spider down, they aren't going to last long when my modified medium Mechs come over the hill, I would love to see the opponents' reaction when the Spider zooms past my BJ-version of the Enforcer or gets rained on by my SHWK-version of the Archer.

So... anyone going to be playing Anthem in the open demo this weekend?
I was in the closed alpha and the VIP demo, and despite the (many) quirks and issues, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the game; I'll probably jump in again this weekend to keep trying out my Interceptor build.
(Do not play with keyboard and mouse on PC, though. The kb+m controls are garbage, while it is a complete joy with a controller.)

FYI
You can play Anthem for 99 cents for a month. Origin Access is $.99 the first month and has access to Anthem.
Edit-my bad it's 10 hours with basic. Bummer.
-
A friend gave me one of his friend codes for Anthem. I tried to play this past weekend.
Emphasis on tried. It'd take repeated attempts to even login. And then I never actually loaded into anything. Ever. Try to load into a scenario: endless loading screen. Try to load into a freeplay area: endless loading screen.
So all I could do was run around that little town area and my opinion on that area is a big ol' "meh."

Eh. Maybe? What system is it on?

Then probably not. I've yet to find a controller that I don't immediately feel like I'm trying to get carpal tunnel syndrome. I probably need to not hold on as tight, but the location of All The Buttons(tm) just doesn't jive with my old-school turkey.
Then again, knowing they abandoned Mass Effect for...this will absolutely color my perception.
