@Auspice
I'll play it. Maybe even write a review for it. -

So, uh. Greedfall. It's okay so far. I've read the reviews and there are some valid complaints but for such a small studio the game is fantastic.
If you really want it? Buy it. Otherwise wait for it to go on sale. It's definitely worth a play.

Any chance Borderlands 3 isn’t going to suck?

I know one thing that won't suck.

RIP Anthem.

You had so much potential

Yeah in the way a souffle recipe has potential, but we all know I'mma fuck it all up anyway if I try to make one.

The Kotaku article about Anthem's development was fascinating. What a debacle.

@Roz That article read as though it was lifted wholecloth out of my husband's exit interview when he left BioWare for Visceral in 2011. I had to keep stopping to rant every few paragraphs. It makes me so incredibly sad to see what it was to what it became. EA is the WORST. The absolute /worst/. Granted said husband left EA-lite to work for EA for another 2 years in a worse situation and on a shittier game, but... bleh. Just... it makes me sad.
In other news I am freaking obsessed with Fire Emblem. Finished my first run in 113 hours, Golden Deer FOREVER. My second run through I'm going Blue Lions, but I've already recruited Hilda and Raphael. And probably Marianne because omfg Mercedes voice bugs the ever-long fuck out of me.

You chose correctly Go Team Deer. I went team Deer, recruited Ingrid, then waifu'd her.

Having worked for a video game company for almost 16 years, there are things I really miss about it. Then there are things I don't. SOE wasn't nearly as bad as EA, but it still had its share of problems. Still, I wouldn't have left by choice, I loved it there.

I had the chance to work for Blizzard in 2006. I did not take it. I do not regret it.
-
Is Borderlands 3 any good? I'm itching for it but full price videogames are something I rarely wanna pay for.
-
@Wretched loving it. If you ps4, PM me.
-
@Wretched
It is perfectly Borderlands. Anything that you would expect out of a Borderlands game - from guns to humor to gameplay is there. That's the best way to describe it, in my opinion.Does it push any kind of new envelopes? Not really. But it is fun. The PC version is a little buggy at times but they are rolling out patches to fix some of the more glaring issues. The only thing they can't fix is the EGS Launcher is not cloud saving correctly so you risk losing your game and progress if you rely just on that for your save files.

See, I don't think 2006 was a poor era for Blizzard. WoW was still in its infancy but defying expectations, and things were Getting Done at the company. Once you hit the years around Cataclysm's development and Diablo III, though? I do wonder how things changed.

My reasoning at the time was not wanting to mix what I enjoy in my free time and what I get paid to do.
I'm not sure now that the reasoning I had back then was quite sound or thought-out but there's probably some merit in it, and it seems to have worked out for the best.

Not bad reasoning. I still have feelings of anger and/or sadness when I go and try and play Everquest or any of the other SOE games.
I may have only been a web developer there, but I touched just about if not every single website that SOE did for 16 years. I loved that place, and when it was sold to become Daybreak and the incoming investment firm laid off 40% or so of the company (including me because highest seniority = highest paid = get the fuck out for our bottom line) it broke me for a bit.
I still miss it.
