Sorry, I use Pop up Blocker, so I had no idea!

Just an FYI guys. If you're playing Anthem on PS4 or XBox the game is causing critical hard crashes on the consoles and in some cases people are reporting that their systems are getting bricked.
Now right now there's only a few reports of bricking but the critical crashes were discussed on the Giant Bomb podcast the other night and is in their written review of the game.

FWIW, it's likely not that the systems are bricked, but that the file table of the internal storage was corrupted due to an unclean shutdown; the same thing can happen when you have a sudden power outage and the PS4 shuts down abruptly in the middle of a game.
Normally, when the PS4 boots, it does a file system check as part of the boot to catch any minor issues. But if the storage table is corrupted to a point where it cannot boot the OS... no boot sequence, no disk repair.
However, there's an easy fix: hold down the power button on the console for two seconds, and you'll boot into the PS4's built-in recovery mode (which is not part of the system partition). Select 'Rebuild Database', wait, reboot, et voila! Your system is back. For UNIX sorts, it's basically a manual
fsck
. (If the controller doesn't work in rescue mode, just plug in a USB keyboard and use the arrow keys and enter.)So it's not as serious as it could be; the systems aren't permanently damaged or anything. And it's worth knowing this trick anyway in case the same thing happens during a power outage.
Still a horrible issue, though.

Far Cry New Dawn is amazing thus far. I'm not terribly far into it, but the graphics are wonderful, the gameplay is excellent, there's a real sense of urgency and danger without making it seem impossible. And the characters are great.
-
@Too-Old-For-This I. Want. So. Bad.
-
@Cobaltasaurus I highly recommend. This is the only series that I've actually followed this long and had every entery get successively better than the last.

@Ganymede No Cheezburger, sadly. I don't think he survived the nukes. You get Timber the Dog, Horatio the Boar... and Nana. Who may well be my favorite companion of all time.

Also, the 17 year time skip would be a long time for an adult diabetic grizzly bear to survive, even if he was just chilling the whole time, after surviving the nukes.
-
@KQ Also true! Man, makes me miss Peaches though.
-
Timber can, however jump into your truck / car / bike with a side-car now though.
-
@Insomnia So can Nana, and all her guns are silenced at the first perk. Also, her dialogue is far more amusing.
Edit: Also, if you got the Herk Legacy Pack, you get a vehicle with a machine gun. She'll man it. Makes taking depots easier!
-
@Too-Old-For-This I'm not a fan of her, but to be fair, when I got her it was at the end of the stream and her bullshit tests just kept going and going. Timber kept getting himself set on fire, and for some reason a bear came out of nowhere during the final fight, and I'm pretty sure there aren't even bears in the area. Not her fault (Probably) but it all ended up being, not a Good Boy.
I may be missing my dog still too. I think 70% of my stream was just petting Timber once I got him.
The pig does not get in the truck though.
-
@Insomnia Oh yeah, no, the tests are insane. But just jump in the truck with her after and go take down an outpost, you'll see what I mean. and yeah, I would imagine maybe you're missing your dog a little, and that's okay! No, Horatio won't get in the truck, but he DOES do that 'magical teleport to wherever you're at' thing to make him show up when you reach a destination.
-
@Too-Old-For-This Who is your favorite companion, and why is it Horatio? Seriously that guy makes me love pigs a lot more. The only time he ever gets chumped is against demon bears.
-
@Saulot Horatio is a great companion for when you want to be the sniper backing up your companion. Cause seriously, I've sent him into an encampment to attack a dude, then just sat back and picked off the other snipers while Horatio took on the camp. Though beware the assholes with mortars, they can knock him out too. Thankfully they take long enough you can just send Horatio towards them when you see the incoming symbol on your screen. He can't always reach them but they sure as Hell won't drop mortars on themselves!
-
@Too-Old-For-This oh nah. I rush in with a shotty or smg most of the time. Occasionally I'll pick people off from afar with my bow. I do enjoy being stealthy sometimes with the judge. At least until I found out who he was. I must say that Pastor Jerome feels worthless a lot of the time. Even when he gets his Molotov and incendiary ammo.
