There comes a point where you're not going to get a lot of actual box sales with a title like Overwatch and it'll need to go F2P with loot boxes being the primary money maker. I'm sure loot boxes already /are/ the primary money maker but...

I pre-ordered overwatch and it is a fun game. I don't play it all that often anymore cuz... can't voice chat without rabid hate, and playing an fps without voice chat is just frustrating in the entirety.

Yeah, I play a lot of rising storm/red orchestra, you can really tell when an opposing team is using voice chat or not. Of course you'll get trolls out there being stupid, but some servers are good about banning them, and they're a joy to play on.

Once in a while, though, you'll just be on the same brainwave as the rest of your team, and very little gets said and you just pwn some n00bs. It feels like you're in the borg when that happens.

I do not really play FPS very much personally but my little brother used to be in some kind of competitive 'Clan' and it was surreal to watch him play the Day of Defeat mod for the original Half Life. He had just played the game so much that he effectively had psychic powers when it came to knowing what other players would do or where they would go, either on his team or the opponents. He would play on public servers then restrict himself to using only hand grenades and spades with no guns and get an 8:1 kill ratio somehow.

He also used to set up surround sound in the living room and go absolutely ballistic if anyone dared speak or walk around when he was playing. Which was annoying.

Quick Matches in Overwatch are Hit-or-Miss and you'll have asshole Hanzo players skipping around doing fuck-all to ruin your match while you're defense team. My best play of the game was basically using Lucio to bounce a bunch of people off the map with a single attack and then boosting the team using his special, all the while I get a third kill on accident.

@packrat DoD 1 was awesome. I was sad when Source came out and pretty much everyone jumped ship, I really didn't like the character models or movement in source, they all looked like hunchbacks skating on ice.

My brother has over 4000 hours in Counter Strike and that is how he plays. It's almost like he has some kind of prescience when it comes to moving into position, throwing grenades, and whatnot. That other players just move into the shot lines that he wants so he can kill them.
