      I really, really like Odyssey.
I barely played AC beyond 2. The others didn't really "do it" for me, but Odyssey does. I really dig it a lot.

Admittedly, I haven't played much since I got Destiny 2 (yay free), but Odyssey gave me those same sort of feels I got from 2. The same puzzle solving, the same sort of wall-scale-jumping and assassination joy.

I love it. I definitely don't get the MMO grind-y feel out of it and I am someone who will drop an MMO in a hot second for hate of the grind.

Saying the quiet parts out loud since 1996.

Thanks, peeps. Will probably pick Odyssey up.

In other news, wow this Spider-Man game is amazing as hell. I know it's largely just a reskin of the Batman games with added old-school 'find the vantage point' Assassin's Creed mechanics, but jesus christ. It seems perfect so far, and fighting as Spidey feels so FLUID it's crazy.

Red Dead Redemption 2...feels like it has a lot of potential, but it also feels kind of...tedious. Not sure I'm going to like it. I hate the inventory systems and the lack of fast travel makes me want to cry (I know you can unlock fast travel later, but oof). They went a little too "realistic" with some of the gameplay mechanics, is my impression so far.

Those two and 'robot-hunter girl' are my library atm. I haven't tried the hunter girl thing yet. (I always forget the name of that game.) Was only 20$ so grabbed that, tho.

          Sounds like Horizon Zero Dawn.

You need to drop what you're doing and play it, if so. That is probably my second favorite game of all time.

Off to make fake accounts to upvote this in to oblivion. (Get the DLC too, if you can).

This is the other game that I mention when people are all "but why not xbooooooox"

The reasons I need a playstaton:

              Horizon Zero Dawn
              Last of Us
              RDR2
              Spiderman

I am jonesin' for that sale to kick off Weds night next week so I can mash the buy button on Walmart's website. I won't get all four at once. I mean, a) moneh, b) I've already got plenty of games. It comes with Spidermens so I'll be set for a while at least and I'm digging on Destiny 2 pretty good right now.

My best friend has never played an AC game and absolutely loves Odyssey, for whatever that's worth.

Not gonna lie, but the fact that you can play a woman means a lot to me.

Unless they put a ton of effort into developing the character's personality and story (see: Geralt from the Witcher), I'd generally rather play as a female than "insert generic action dudebro" and it does impact my interest in games.

I have not been impressed with either protagonist of Odyssey. I would call Shepard the boilerplate of boilerplate default protag, and I say that as someone who absolutely loves Mass Effect(yes, even Andromeda for all it's odd faults), but either protag of Odyssey were just as bland, vanilla, and milquetoast was a touch eye rolly for me.

At least with Ezio, and that's really the last AC I played was the Ezio trilogy, you had a protag with substance, character, a background and goddamn style.

Ubisoft has tied to be BioWare during a time when BioWare can't even be BioWare. And I appreciate the attempt, but they have a bit further to go before they get there.

It’s really hard to be like Shepard in a game that plays like you’re soloing everything.

Also it feels worth repeating. Goddamn this Spider-Man game is fantastic. Even though I know it's largely a mish-mash of mechanics from other games...everything just feels right.

So the new mega expansion/DLC for Crusader Kings 2? All sorts of new options a lot of which are not super obvious. For example if you play a custom world you can modify religions and one of the options allows you to have a society that is matrilineal rather than patrilineal.

Also there is a semi hidden options for 'animal kingdoms'. Want to play as a dragon duchess and eat your prisoners, using your sons (who are eggs until maturity) as political bargaining chips whilst your daughters lead armies? This is now apparently a thing.

Kassandra looks amazing. And the dialogue choice/damage numbers/etc are...very interesting for an Assassin's Creed game. o__O

For me, it doesn't matter. I don't buy that shit. As far as I'm concerned, it's weaksauce boosting for weaksauce players.
