Considering the fact that there's no microtransactions, no DLCs, not even any pre order or deluxe/complete/GOTY editions and it's...just a game. That was put out. Without any kind of extra bullshit attached to it? Back when you just wanted to buy a game to enjoy? Without worrying about some possible potential expense?

That fact alone is why, to me, it's worth $60.

      This convinces me.

I mean, I'll get the game at some point between the end of Vampyr and the release of The Last of Us Part 2.

There isn't enough Fallout for me in Outer Worlds.

Kind of surprised that's a sticking point for some. After the dumpster fires that Fallout 4 is and the catalyst that is the worst PR nightmare for Bethesda that Fallout 76 still continues to be, and you're saying that it's not Fallout enough?

Who says that I think Fallout 4 is Fallout enough? And Fallout Shelter is more Fallout than 76. Fallout 3 and New Vegas revived a world with certain beats. These beats are shared by the original Fallouts. Some are new. These are what makes a Fallout... Fallout.

But Outer Worlds is also not Borderlands enough. It’s not Bioshock enough. It’s not Firefly enough. It’s also, and I want to be deeply constructively critical here, not Outer Worlds enough.

It touches a lot of themes and situations and does not feel to me like they are finding many beats of their own. Even if they cribbed them from all the similar (in more than look) influences, I would be feeling more in step.

I dunno, but I feel like if it was more Fallout like than it would be criticized to no end for copying Fallout, despite the fact that Obsidian is pretty much made out of a good deal of people who created Fallout at Black Isle.

You mean they would be criticized if they had stronger character arcs? More living world with more situational showing and less terminal telling? A plot that wove through everything no matter what you chose to do?

New Vegas is an example of people who created Fallout who created a whole new version of it. Twice if you count the story in the DLC. Twice! You barely step into a Vault! And they ran out of time for how in depth they wanted to make Caesar’s Legion!

So I don’t know what people think “more like Fallout” would have meant “just like Fallout”, but when I finish I plan on giving this game all the accolades possible. Even with my above complaints, there is so much to recommend about this game.

Now I'm waffling, damnit. The $1 game pass thing sounds legit, but I'm concerned that if I give Microsoft my billing information they'll hit me for MS Office licensing I don't want. They tried like hell to bill me for that after my trial ran out, and you couldn't opt out -- the only solution was to remove valid payment information from the account. So this is a factor.

Is it Cid Meier's Civilization enough, though?

The Red Dead Redemption 2 PC release date is November 5, 2019. That’s right, we can expect the open-world cowboy adventure game to barrel onto PC this year.

                              Damn right.

Remember, remember the 5th of November the train robbing season and plot. I see no real reason why the train robbing season should ever be forgot.

The new Steam UI hurts my eyes. Jesus. Is there any way to roll back this update? I can't look at it without getting a headache... 😞

I went with Greedfall, for those keeping score at home. My shitty internet downloaded the thing in time for me to roll out a character before bed and not much more, so no real verdict yet.

The new Steam UI, though? Absolute trash. Stahp.

Oh thank god someone else said that, because the number of characters that are almost another character keeps bugging me.

I don't actually play video games at all any longer and didn't play much in the past either, but found this gem that might amuse some people. It's a concert with only gaming music. Music starts about six minutes in, before that there's a buncha talk in Swedish that most of you won't understand and it's not that interesting. The music is good!

Does anyone else play SWTOR? Isn't Onslaught great? I feel like they literally tailored the xpac for me. They even put the HK chapter on the cartel market. It is so weird (and wonderful, mind) to actually be a target audience for a game. 😄

@Sunny I really wish I could play all of it as a single player game. The quests and everything are (or were!) the kind of thing you expected out of BioWare SW, but I never really enjoyed the MMO parts.
