I kind of hate you right now for posting this. It's all your fault.
What? Ghost "Mister V5 fanboy" isn't okay with the V5-based Bloodlines 2 being delayed??? You did this. It's all your fault. Fuuuuuck
Seriously, its not like I'm old but when it comes to stuff like release dates these days I kind of mentally check off a "try not to die before March 2020 because Bloodlines 2" note in my head.
You're fuckin fired.
Update: "Delayed until sometime later in the year" OMFGFUCKYOUAUSPICE
Everyone is dead to me for the next 30 minutes.

they delayed it to make it a better game.
look it'll still be out in a shorter timeframe than anything Onyx Path ever does. -

So I was curious about this, and the first hit I checked out was from Gamesradar+, and included this gem:
While news of the delay is definitely a bummer, it would be an even bigger bummer to get a Bloodlines 2 that's as buggy and unplayable as the original.
I don't think that people remember that the limited selection of buggy games gave us classics like Bloodlines. Good writing, developed world, and a game that was buggy and yet somehow still playable? We should be so lucky to get games that we want to play this badly.
Witcher 3 still would have been an amazing game with half the polish.
We need to stop expecting the world.

Rimworld was so captivating that I didn't get any sleep last night.

On the plus side, CP2077 is slated for April and if BL2 comes out 3-4 months later, then I won't have to choose my favorite child between BL2 (was March) and CP2077 (April). This way I can play out CP for a while.
And ohmygod I will go full "Wesley Snipes in New Jack City" on anyone who tells me today that CP is delayed, too

Right. And this is why well yes, I am at the delay, I am also entirely okay with it. Developers need to have no shame in delays to put out a functional game.

@RDC
P.s. you got me. Well played.

Just a notice for anyone interested in The Division 2 but have been waiting on a price drop:
The game is 70% off in the Ubistore right now. This makes the standard edition $21.00 before taxes, and the $119.00 ultimate edition down to $36.00.

I'm psyched! Seemed like they'd kept development so quiet after announcing it was in the works that I was worried it had been cancelled, so even a cinematic trailer is p. thrilling!
-
@Wizz And the stock character is that perfect mix of Viking/Biker... I cant wait to meet his 4'11" girlfriend with rainbow hair!
Srsly tho I am excite

This discussion happened at work yesterday:
Person A: I'm out of Blizzard.
Person B: Yeah, me too. Look at all this stuff Riot doing!
Person A: Umm...

Ultimately there aren't many successful companies which happen to be ethical at the same time for much the same reason most politicians aren't very nice people; it's because when you're directly competing with others ruthlessness is an advantage. It's not a decisive one but it certainly makes a difference.
Sometimes it's a matter of picking your poison. Games specifically do have an advantage in being crowdfund-able though.
-
But Blizzard is currently the lesser of two evils.
The lesser of ten evils, if you include EA.

I feel like that's not just people coming up with unrealistic expectations, though. That's the company promoting and trying to create hype and pitching their product as though it is the world - then struggling to meet the raised expectations they created.
Both Cyberpunk and Bloodlines 2 went on presale like a year in advanced based on little more than fancy trailers. That's way too far out of having any hope of hitting your target date with any definitive accuracy. It felt less like your usual presales and more like late-term crowdfunding / market testing. If they get a lot of presales, they keep working on it. If they don't, they fix as much major stuff as possible and release it as is to the smaller market.
And sure, every company wants to make sales, but no one wants to make the video game equivalent of the Fyre festival.

Why not? Star Citizen keeps bringing in ALL the cash.
