The main reason I said 1$ per hour would be good for Outer Worlds is because it is marketed as a open world RPG. It's also why I don't buy games like Last of Us or the Call of Duties, I buy RPG games because I want something that will give me 40-60 if not more hours for that 60 dollar price tag.
To each their own. I suppose your analysis is why I enjoyed any of the Mass Effect games more than Dragon Age: Inquisition.

I never made it to Inquisition. Origins was mind-numbingly dull.
Mass Effect forever.

One day I will actually finish ME3 and see firsthand what all the hubbub and hate was about.
In the meantime, 1+2 are still some of the best games ever.
-
@Tempest Remember to choose your color when you do that.
-
@Tempest I think the hate was before they patched it to have a new ending.

There's one new ending, which really sucks. The hate died down a bit after the Citadel DLC let you end the story with some dignity before the game ended.
-
So far as I'm concerned, Citadel is the official ending of Mass Effect 3. Not Casey Hudson's temper tantrum when the added 'fourth' ending was released.
Fuck that guy for ruining Drew Kapsharin's written ending. It altering the ending that he had written(never mind most of the plot of ME3)is in part what made him quit BioWare.

The hate didn't really die down, it just became apparent that there was never going to be a proper solution and folks let the Citadel DLC calm things over, but most of the community is still sore about how binary the two choices are, and even the third choice is a slapstick. My real problem with the endings is that you don't really get to -see- what the hell becomes of the universe you worked so hard towards. you get a 30 second reel of a few characters and then fade to beautiful space background and credits. You don't get any sort of real closure or understanding of how the universe is going to function or continue.

These games are among the best PC games I have ever played.
So...I mean...
I don't know why we're at this point in the discussion.

Too long, too dull, too mind-numbing. The open world aspect conflicted with the story. Horizon Zero Dawn seems to embrace both open world and story, but does so in a rogue-like style, which makes the open world aspect more tolerable.

This puts into words something I got a strong feel from with Dragon Age, thank you.
People would ask 'Oh did you-'
'No, what are you talking about?'
'When you were in X town, did you <thing>?'
'No? Should I go back an-'
'Oh, no, you had to do it at a very specific time. Oh well, you can do it next time you play. It's pretty much ruined now.'.......so it's an open-world game where I have to do things in a very linear way to get the full effect. Thanks.
I don't want to play with a walk-through open to get the 'best' effect out of the game. I almost never play games a second time through. I don't have time to play games a second time through. -

Damnit, you reminded me this exists, and now I am back in 'metal robutt meat mush' want mode. Rabble rabble.

One of the reasons I love Borderlands 2 and Pre-Sequel is because they embrace their nature and turn it up to 11. They are the best single-player MMOs I've ever played, and while Inquisition tried to ride this mob-based open-world, it just doesn't gel as well for them.
I'm hoping that the success of Descent and to a lesser extent Trespasser tells them what I like most about Dragon Age.

This is a dumb conclusion. Dragon Age: Origins is a game where you can't possibly get all the effects on a single play-through. What you can do is make it yours; there is no wrong way to do it and your friends are stupid for ruining your re-plays. (Not that you would because you already hate it, so I don't know why I'm defending it to you.)
DA2 is in no way open-world, so let's nip that in the bud right now.
DA:I is, as mentioned above, a mob-based open-world where no, you also don't have to do things in a linear fashion to get the "full effect". I find that the writing is less nuanced and there's less "play it your way" compared to DA:O. It's a bunch of little stories that usually have something to do with the main story or have to do with your companions or current situation. It's not epic, but it is personal. The game world gets in the way, but as I have said many times: I can put up with a lot for a good story.
DA:O is a story told in four parts. Sometimes how you go about those parts will affect bits in the other parts. Each part has a bunch of little stories that almost all have to do with whatever is going on in that part. It's epic. It's amazing storytelling.
So those people are dumb, and your conclusion is...baffling.

I hate the Outer Worlds but love Borderlands.
I think it should PROBABLY be legal for you to think this, but I can't imagine a just world where it's legal for you to say this out loud.
Ok, Boomer.

God of War (PS4) is on Playstation Now and I still love this series a little too much.
Even moreso now that Kratos - and the dev team - have grown the fuck up.
On a side note, does anyone else's body temperature rise when playing really action intense games? I'm talking full on adrenaline flush and sweating. I've only noticed it with this game lately, but it's a strange (and gross) feeling.

Oh yeah, a lot. Sometimes it kinda sucks because I'll end up having to take like an hour break from just playing for 15-20 minutes to calm down.

Horror games make me tense. Like, every muscle just steadily tenses up the more I play until my whole body hurts.
So I can really only enjoy those games through LPs. I love horror games, but because of my health issues, it's no good for me to play them.

I picked up Cultist Simulator on Hallowe'en, and I'm... mild to moderately obsessed.
The format is super simple, one of those skinner box 'just one more thing before bed' designs (almost like one of those mobile games), which is a feature that really works in a game where the protagonist is consumed by a destructive obsession.

I picked it up at launch and I play it every now and then because I'm still uncovering... how to play it. Every time I play a few games, I pick up just a little bit more. It's a really great game to have going on your second screen during slow scenes.
