@Arkandel Divinity 2. It's been in alpha for a while and people have been trying it out.

@Arkandel
I liked Grim Dawn, I thought it was a fair entry into the Diablo style genre of games with enough things to make it different. The questing and story was fun. And the way the game handles abilities and character leveling were also enjoyable.I also liked the Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing. Buy the final cut if you get it, that game is worthwhile with several interesting classes which really change how you play the game. The story is pretty linear no matter your class like Diablo is, but I found it to be a great game and have an interesting story.
And if you want more shooty in your Diablo style game the new Warhammr 40k Inquisition - Martyr game just released for Early Access. The promotional copy that I have is pretty limited and there are some people playing it on Youtube. I think that it's going to be an interesting entry into the genre and Warhammer 40k seems to fit well with the way they are doing it so far. The drawback...it is Early Access and unfinished so you will be getting something in development. So you have to weigh that carefully like you would any game in Early Access.
ETA: While the Warhammer game is in Early Access I will say that there is enough of a game to dig into and have fun with. I recommend looking up some of the Youtube LPs to get a fair approximation of it if you are interested in this one.
Lastly...Path of Exile is very much inspired by Diablo and that game is huge. There is literally hundreds of combinations for building a character and the game has a lot of promotion going on for it. It is like any other MMO with constant updates and changes that come frequent enough to keep the game interesting.

@Insomnia A very few!
Although sometimes I feel like I am the only person who genuinely LIKES the Vita. It has great battery life, feels good in my hands, and a much better store/app selection than the DS.

Paths of exile is popular at my office.

Has anyone played Divinity: Original Sin 2 yet? I'm curious if it's as good as the reviews have it before I shell out $55 on it.

I watched a multiplayer, storytelling video sometime ago that prompted me to want to pick it up. Specifically so that I could get friends together for said storytelling pursuits. Obviously it wasn't enough to really decide whether it was worthwhile or not, but it definitely caused the game to catch my interest.
Then again, I'm still trying to slog my way through Tyranny. So I shouldn't buy new games. Oh, hello Total War: Warhammer II.
-
@Faceless Tyranny was amazing. I only finished it with one 'path' because I was just too lazy to start from scratch and grind my way out, but the story was great.

Tyranny was amazing.
And grossly disappointing. To the point that I rescind all good comments about it.
It has the most atrocious and abrupt ending I have ever seen in a video game.
I was playing Tyranny, having tons of fun. I kill a boss and get to the point of feeling 'wow, this is fantastic, the story is really picking up! looking forward to the war with the big bad!' and save the game after the boss fight and go to bed, because it was late af. Next day, I load my game and go back to my HQ and push a button and the game ends with 'MAYBE ONE DAY YOU WILL FIGHT THE BIG BAD!'
Wtf?
The ending was so abrupt, I saved the game after a boss fight, had no idea it was about to end, and the next day I 'beat' the game within 60 seconds of loading, by pushing a button in my HQ.
Leading up to that point the game is fantastic. But that was disappointing on a scale I have never encountered, because the abrupt ending is also /garbage/.
-
@Tempest Yeah, I agree on that peeve, they obviously ran out of money there and had to put the game out
But look at it this way, if it wasn't great you wouldn't have been disappointed the greatness was cut short in the first place.
-
@Arkandel
Yes. There is a great story to it and the game is rather fun. It takes a new twist on how things like combat and magic is utilized with elemental affinities giving a nice twist on the standby of usual mechanics.If you played D:OS1 you're already somewhat familiar with it. If not it might be worth picking that up as well. I recommend both games.

You like literally could not take a single action without something reacting to some pool of something on the ground/etc.

@Tempest
There are still environmental terrain that can effect your people based on spell used yes. Are they all over the place? I would say no more or less than they were in the first game. If you pay attention to things you can avoid the ones that might impact you the most easy enough or use spells to offset them. -
The one that gets me every time is blood and lightning, you are all ready to lightning some fools then find you did noticed they (and you) are now standing in a huge pool of blood. Suddenly everyone is stunned and twitching.
-
So i got bloodborne. I also got that trypophobia. Mistakes have been made.
-
Got Divinity: Original Sin 2 and have been playing that. It's really good and would highly recommend it for anyone who enjoyed the first game. Still got a ways to go before beating it though.
-
Recently played:
- Hiveswap (Act 1): Pretty good for $8. Amusing and good music. You don't need to know Homestuck to play this, and it isn't filled with fan service to people who do.
- Tooth & Tail: Here's a game that has an amazingly deep setting, but damn I cannot play this well. I would love to play something this disturbing as a Mu*.
- Danganropa V3 (demo): Use a controller. Probably not a good place to start the Danganropa series, but the first game is usually on sale. It's more like a visual novel with puzzles, but not always trivial puzzles.
- Tokyo Dark: Not as deep as I was hoping. I Kickstarted this.
- Cupid - Visual Novel (free on itch.io Ho. Lee. Shit. This is disturbing and dark and as a visual novel its ending didn't lead me on like many do. I played as cruel as I could to the protagonist and I was not disappointed.
What bridges all of these? Amazing story or world. One point-n-click adventure, one RTS, essentially three visual novels. Yeah, I like me some story.

I think it's time to get back into World of Warcraft.
I don't know if that's a or a .
-
@Arkandel
I too have considered this. But then from what I'm told WoW is so close to GW2 these days that I think I'd keep my money and play GW2 free. -
@Jaded I think one of the main comforts of WoW for me is that it's something I know so well. In a way it's also inhibiting me from liking other newer games but nostalgia and familiarity are definite factors, big ones.

I finished Destiny 2's first raid this weekend...
It was like this for about 20 hours across 3 days...
Then...all of the sudden...
If they could only extract the brain fluid of someone at the point of beating a Destiny raid (for the first time) and turn it into a pill form...depression would be cured.
You have to do the parts in order until you beat it once, so here's the approximate # of tries it took for the maybe 6 different teams I played with across the weekend until finally beating Calus.
- Part 1: Royal Baths (25-30 tries)
- Part 2: Royal Gardens (50-60 tries)
- Part 3: The Games/Obstacle course (10 tries)
- Part 4: Emperor Calus (30-40 tries)
But I did it! GO FUCK YOURSELVES PEOPLE WHO DID IMPORTANT LIFE WORK, HAD SEX, OR IMPROVED YOURSELVES OVER THE WEEKEND.
