Didn't I just read in some other thread about someone offering up a DB core with a fully coded Fate system? Seems like this could still be a thing, if someone wanted to run with it.
-
@rnmissionrun I had one (kind of--it required some reworking), but there's a lot of MU*er resistance to Fate as a system. I have the feeling I'll just use this wacky game idea for Fate or Adventures on Dungeon Planet with my local gaming group.
-
So this thing is 100% dead?
-
@magee101 Pretty much, yeah. Sorry. Fate just doesn't seem to be of much interest to folks, and the sandbox setup that I was going for seemed to work against, rather than in support of, player RP ideas.
-
@fatefan I think you'd find quite a few people interested in Fate, yes there are some naysayers, and the vocal negatives are /always/ more vocal than the positives.
But...
There is no game for everyone, trying to please everyone will always fail. So maybe letting it go is the best thing for it.
-
@fatefan I’ll play a fate game like this!
-
@fatefan My unsolicited opinion? Do what you want, what you love, treat it with respect and care, and provide support for players who may not be familiar with it and players will come!
-
The combination of original sci-fi + FATE is probably the double kiss of death, but it might still be be a fun game as long as you don't have to put a whole lot of work into it and you're Ok with not having a whole lot of players.
-
That's kind of a shit thing to say. Why not be encouraging? Why not wish them luck? But you just had to be Debbie fucking Downer, huh? And don't say you're just being realistic or whatever, because that'd be the biggest crock of bullshit.
-
For sure. I definitely don't mind working on something not (m)any people will play. But I also don't feel an obligation to it if I'm not sure I'll have fun with the game myself, either. (Hence my statement that it may be better suited with a TT group than as a MU*.)
-
Ok! Well enjoy then! There is def a lot of fun to be had in a TT group
-
@fatefan Yeah, if you don't think you'll have fun playing it you certainly won't have fun running it. Like I said, do what you love but if you don't love it...well, might be best to reevaluate.

Seriously, I was trying to be encouraging there, but a little realistic also.

There is some fairness in warning people. I tried to run a FAE game with a not main stream setting and couldn’t get it off of the ground, so.
-
This really did sound like a lot of fun, though. I still find myself thinking of character ideas for this setting.
-
@fatefan Sucks that it's dead. There are tons of things to explore in a setting like this.
-
@golgoth I agree. Maybe I'll return to it in the future--but for now, it's dead.

I shelved SWR for a few years. Absolutely having a blast coming back to it, and I seem to be a lot more motivated. I wish you luck @fatefan
