Coming soon: Lawless Space MUSH
-
@fatefan Seriously, though, do you have an estimated time until open?
-
"Soon" is the best I can offer right now.
-
Soon (TM) is trademarked.
-
The patent office required us to trademark it when we were making The Reach.
-
Would you rather I said "not soon" ?
-
@fatefan We're just excited and wanna rp there. Does your team need staff, STs, builders?
-
(I was honestly just riffing myself. I advertised The Reach in late 2006 and it took until October of 2009 for it to open for soft RP. Then @Thenomain and @Glitch were like "what the fuck is this shit that you've got for code?" and we were actually open for real, with systems and everything.)
-
@Ghost Eventually I'll need help, but I am content for the moment to move along at a decent stroll.
-
I think I may open this up to some super-alpha testing soon, for anyone interested.
There are a few things I need to tighten up and test out, but I'm hopeful that the game will be fully open before too long.
-
Update: I'm still excited as shit about this game.
-
I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the content, what is, or where can I find info about 'Lawless Space'?
-
@magee101 The system would be Fate, if nothing has changed there. I don't think there's a game book for the setting, which looks like it's an original (and awesome) idea.
-
@surreality @magee101 Yes, it's a game running on Fate Core (mostly to facilitate wacked-out, high-concept sci fi ideas relatively easily). The theme is "original" which is to say heavily inspired by (ripping off?) that block of media listed at the bottom of the initial post in this thread.
I wanted to provide a space for nearly everything, but without the trappings/constraints of existing IP. So "lawless space" is a catch-all for the frontier of the universe, a plot point by which different character ideas can congregate without everything having to cohere seamlessly background-wise.
At this point, I mostly just need to finish drafting up the few news files I have and remind myself of how wiki templating etc. works to complement in-game info and allow for logs etc. to be posted if desired.

-
@fatefan If you're using mediawiki (I can't help with wikidot) I may be able to help toss a few templates and whatnot your way if you let me know what you need.
-
@surreality Yes, mediawiki for sure. The last time I really did any wiki construction was like 7 years ago, at least, before I took a bit of a MU* break for some time. So I am super rusty at that stuff.
-
@surreality
OH SURROn that note, I found a piece of CSS code you can use on templates that causes images to automatically resize to the screen/container formatting (so images would resize to say, fit the width of an infobox constantly across all display versions). It's pretty neat, and you can just stick it on the template and be done with it.
{{#css:
img {
max-width: 100%;
height: auto;
width: auto\9; /* ie8 */
}
}}Requires the CSS extension, but I thought you might find it useful.
Also, on the note of the game, I am actually excited. I really like the concept and am looking at the mass of sci-fi books and anime I have and going 'OOH BABY WHAT INSPIRATION'. I just finished Macross Delta, and Macross is my typical go-to space opera, though there's plenty of Outlaw Star, Cowboy Bebop, and Excel Saga. MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAA. Space bounty hunter who spends too much money on food and booze and can barely keep his ship in ammo, here I come!
-
@Bobotron Oooh. I will steal that. I won't use it on the current project but it'll be handy. (I found a vignette cheat, and love it too much to abandon it for the current layout; I end up using the |###px thing in the file tag currently in-template.)
@fatefan Let me know the basics of what you'd need -- or if there's a good example of the kind of page you'd like to make, and I should be able to get something over to you.
-
I have come to realize I remember jack shit about setting up a wiki beyond getting it installed and running. This is, I think, the biggest obstacle slowing me down before I open up the game for interested testers/players/etc.
