Honestly, pretty damn mild from all accounts.
No fever. No cough. No aches. Tired at first, but that went away. But this damned anosmia.
That's the part that sucks the most.
-
I'm really glad to hear it. I'm sorry you're sick, but I am so glad it's mild. Please remain OK. Thank you.

I don't know WTF is wrong with my legs. I've NEVER had dry skin issues, beyond needing some lotion now and then in the winter. Right now, my legs itch almost constantly, and I've scratched myself bloody more than once.
Different lotions, creams, moisturizers, and nothing seems to really work. I've cooled down the showers I take, use moisturizing body wash... I just.. I'm so befuddled.
This may be a totally weird one to ask, but: how's your liver?
I'm in a medical study for a medication for liver disease (and good news: my last labs came back with a marked drop in liver enzymes, so it seems I may be on the drug itself and it is working!) and one of the questions I got asked is if I get random bouts of itchiness. Apparently it can be one of the big symptoms! Not one I have (thank god), but it was something I got asked (since they can use it as one of their metrics to track if the drug is helping or not).
So if you do have liver disease, it might be the answer as to whyforitchy.
-
@Macha Yeah, I hesitate to say anything, but since it's kinda been brought up already, my first thought there was diabetes.
-
@GreenFlashlight I have the Diabeetus, have for years now. Type 1, and fairly well controlled (I actually need to /lower/ my long term once a day insulin dose)
@Auspice I probably need to get it checked. I had signs of fatty liver a year or so ago? And the edema that comes and sloooooowly goes, can be a liver thing, too.
-
@Macha That might be it, then. I mean, obvs, see a professional and all. But it's one of the Things with fatty liver. You can get itchiness like you're describing.
(Which sucks, but hey. Might assuage fears of it being some other big thing y'know?)

I was in the same situation many years ago. Something would itch. I'd scratch it. A welt would raise, which itched more. I'd scratch it. Welt would get worse and itchier. I'd scratch it. On more than one occasion, I'd scratch until I was bleeding, trying to get it to stop.
Turns out I had dermatographism, which is incredibly common, and usually so mild that a lot of people who have it don't even realize. But because it's ultimately an autoimmune response and I was under a crazy amount of stress, it flared up to that mess.
Obviously check with your doctors, but if it's dermatographism? Yeah, I just take two knock-off Claritin a day. Managed with OTC allergy meds. Totally not a big deal.
ETA: Itch-X is fucking amazing. It's what my allergist uses on people's arms after allergy tests.

@Macha I've increasingly had these issues over the last few years. I've basically had, like, "cradle cap" my whole life, to put it simply, but over time my skin issues have gotten a bit worse. Like, jewelry made my neck get this permanent dry patch for years, which I finally cured with African black soap, oddly enough. Didn't expect it to work, but of all the different things I tried, it's the only thing that did.
The real stuff, not that cheap black bar you often see for sale. Though if you try this, make sure you do the spot test included in the box.
I have another patch in between my hair and my neck in the back, which I'm currently working on getting rid of. But yeah, give this stuff a shot if nothing else is working. It really sounds like a form of eczema and African black soap ends up being a miracle for some people.

My CBD is here, so I'm trying that.
It's 20mg, hopefully that's enough to work!
I mean, it's been about 30 minutes and I don't feel a creeping void of darkness and isolation, so maybe it is working?

I did a lot of intense black friday shopping, since I'd saved up a lot to repair my roof but the roof repair (well, the patch job that I had done at least) didn't take up as much funds as I expected.
My best friend convinced me that I should buy a Switch, since I've wanted one forever and got all my responsible house shit bought. And I bought my grandmother the TV that I wanted to buy her since last Christmas, but couldn't before because I kept having to spend money on house repair emergencies.
Amazon says the Switch will come the day before my birthday. And the games I bought were Smash Brothers, Breath of the Wild, and Mario Oddysey. Basically a "never be depressed or bored again" combo lmao. But yeah, black friday was very productive. I also look forward to what I get to cook with the Instant Pot 11 in one Air Fryer/pressure cooker thing, among other cool stuff!
Oh, and notably I ordered this tempered glass pie dish thing for my grandmother (got myself one too), because she likes eating out of tupperware stuff, but that stuff always gets filthy and stained so easily. So I got her this dish that comes with a lid, because I think it'll be more sanitary for her in the long run than plastic stuff.
I also finally started reading the Power Rangers comics that I got forever ago, but wanted to catch upwith the show first (I still have like half a season to go before fully caught up, but it's safe to read the comics now), and they are basically everything I could have possibly wished for. Like, it doesn't feel like a rewrite so much as something that expands on stuff that was already there, like certain personality things and plot stuff that could only benefit from being explored a bit deeper. Highly recommend so far.
Kimberly is giving me Jean Grey vibes for some reason, except if Jean Grey was written as a human.

I get depressed every December, I have pretty much as far back as I can remember. I know some of it was trauma suffered directly as a very young child this time of year. I also know my father, who suffered that same trauma with me, reinforced the depression by his own affecting him every year. He would drink more, get moody and nasty, etc.
This year, I didn't even make it to December before it hit. I'm sure having no actual thanksgiving, and just stress lately hasn't helped. I'm just desperate to not fall into the black hole.
-
@Macha I'm sorry, Macha. It's definitely a crappy year for holiday/seasonal depression.

My tooth can kill me now I'd be totally ok with that just to not be in pain anymore.
(I started trying to find a free dental clinic but then my total utter fear of dentists kicked in and I can't do that shit alone. Especially because if I had to be conscious while someone touched this tooth rn I'd probably hit them. A lot.)

Could you have someone "virtually" holding your hand? A friend standing by on Zoom or such?

When I went to the dentist last year (and managed to get the deep cleaning that was gonna lead to the other work before I noped out of the rest), I went to a place that offers TV and music and a blanket and I had a friend I was texting.....I still barely managed.
They were really nice and if I could afford it I'd try going back there to see if maybe I could manage. But a) can't afford and b) they closed their office last month.

Yes? Seasonal and tree nuts.

If your pain is non-localized, it's possible that it is related to allergies. I've been starting to get intense upper tooth pain in response to seasonal allergies, and I've been told that is because of the sinuses above your teeth getting enflamed and swollen. Else, it could be a sinus infection of some sort, which will do the same thing.
Lo, when I took a round of antibiotics, the pain went away. But, yeah, it sucks donkey balls.
