@Cupcake My therapist worries because I cling to the same humor/deflection even when I'm talking about the dark things. That I deliver it all logically.

Then, at the end of the session today, she remarked that it might be a good thing, right now. I might need it to cling to. So something feels normal. I'm just such a mess, right now.

This is something my own therapist has mentioned to me as well. I've been trained in left-brain arts since I was a child, because I always focused on math and sciences (especially computer science, when younger) and going into adulthood I still feel the need to try to analyze everything, including emotions and responses, just to see if there is a rational source. The closest I've come to really expressing myself would probably be MU*ing with the occasional mini writing projects I give myself (that I somehow never finish).

That said, in early August I had a bit of a meltdown and I've been kind of freaking out about the disruption in the background, and one thing that I too have been told is to try and stick to what is normal for you. We have a bit of a subconscious need for normalcy, and if rational expression is what you do, stick with it. Heal first, always.

        I can understand this too.

My partner can sense my moods. When I'm joking about dark things, she knows I'm stressed. When I'm not joking at all, she knows there's a problem that needs to be addressed immediately.

It's hard for a lot of non-therapists to understand that the guy cracking jokes while his life is falling apart around him is not okay.

Word of warning if you get this head cold that's been going around (here in Austin at least....): sure day 1 seems fine. Bit of vertigo, congestion, etc... You're still mostly functional.

Day 2 is where it goes bad.

I'm going back to bed to die now. Those deadlines at work can wait.

            @Auspice Seconding this.

Whatever is going around put my niece in the hospital and took me forever and a day to recover from. Don't mess around this year, yo. Get flu shots, use antibacterial solution. Take care of yourselves.

I am fairly certain this isn't the flu. Tho yes, flu shots. Still need to get mine (have a dr appt in a couple weeks). But this thing is....ugh.

It blindsided me from the get go and I thought day 1 was a breeze.

              Ha ha.

@Auspice One characteristic of flu is that it hits you like a mack truck.

                  shhh no.
                  Not the flu.
                  Just a bad cold.

If I deny it it can't be true.

Now excuse while I debate if I can fend off vertigo long enough to make soup or if this is an 'order Chinese delivery' kind of day. πŸ˜‰ I think I'm all sleep'd out for now even tho bed is still a wonderful mistress.

Also, wow, had anyone else who has had mono (I had the pleasure of getting it at the age of 27) experienced a thing where their spleen gets all irritated when they get sick other times? Is that normal? Or something I should ask my Dr about?

I remember being somewhat miserable in Texas during October/November because of what they called "cedar fever", which was an allergy to cedar pollen.

Wrong time of year for that. Ragweed sure. That's really bad right now in fact.

                      Cedar pollen is January/February.

Ate a sandwich. Had some tiny mold spots on it that I cut out. Turns out you shouldn't eat bread with mold spots on it even if you cut them out.

Am now half-convinced that I'm going to die.

I don't understand how something as stupid and embarrassing as hypochondria can be so fucking crippling.

                          Took another day off work.
Can afford it. Barely but can.

Mostly I'm just trying to actually listen to my body for once rather than pushing myself too hard. I feel better but not a ton better and I know an extra day of taking it easy will do me good.

Also: this is the first time I've ever had the whole suite of sick symptoms (coughing, congested, body aches, etc etc etc...) and my temperature has been really low. A whole 97.1! Really putting the cold in cold.

Hey more on OpenPath being awesome.

They contacted me after I signed up to verify that I qualified since I have insurance and I briefly panicked. I explained that yes, I do, but my insurance is one of those '20% after deductible' types for mental health and ha ha I can in no way afford to pay full market cost up front rn (that's like $200+ a visit). They assured me that yes, I absolutely qualify and they just have to double check.

So yes, pro service. Totally recommend.

So I've been having weird muscle jerks. Especially in my forearms and hands, though my legs have been twitching too. It's starting to worry me

Not to the best of my knowledge. That sort of thing - would it show up with CBCs? (I just had a bunch of blood tests)

Sometimes I am the fucking worst at self care.

I'm gonna be an hour later than usual (thank God for flexible hours) to work because my legs are pieces of shit today thanks to the storms yesterday so I slept an extra hour!

But at the same time I am here at the bus stop shivering in the wind because I checked the weather and thought 'high of 71? I won't need a jacket.'

Dumb bitch you have fibro and it's only 8am so it's only 60 right now.

Might, yes. The CBCs ought to show any imbalance in electrolyte/ion levels. These may cause uncontrollable spasms or jerks. I'd talk to a doctor because such imbalance can cause you to pass out or for your heart to stop.
