There are LOTS of things it could be that are not at all catastrophic, but you're not going to stop being terrified until the vet. I wish you lots and lots and lots of luck distracting yourself until then.

Pro: Got the Pfizer vaccine Wednesday morning. Got tired but that was about it, took an all day nap and then slept that night too.
Con: It is Friday. I am exhausted, my head hurts, and I feel like I'm sick.
Still worth it. But wow.
Going back to bed.

That's a relief. What I've been reading says the same.

@crawfish Everyone I've spoken to has said that they've had to call off or call out after the second shot because of how they felt. I'm wondering if the Johnson & Johnson one is any better since I've only heard from people who got the Pfizer vaccine.

I'm scheduled for the J&J shot for April 1. I'll let everyone know how it goes.
J&J is less effective than the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, but its effectiveness is better than the average flu shot.

I'm grumpy as hell because I won't even be considered for a shot until July or so, unless miracles happen. I'm high risk and chronically ill, but not in active hospital treatment.
Was a bit of a media hubbub about that here the other day when someone pointed out that this means terminal cancer patients who refuse further chemo are also not being scheduled because no hospital treatment=not at risk.
The logic of bureaucrats, man.
Fortunately for me it doesn't make much difference since my illness keeps me pretty socially isolated anyhow.

Getting my shot about 26 hours from now. Not sure which one it will be. Husband got the Pfizer shot around a week ago, and in addition to the soreness most folks get at the injection site, his brain was foggy and his short term memory was utterly screwed. He's better now though. I'll report back on my own experience tomorrow afternoon.

I had no problem with the first Pfizer shot beyond hella painful arm, but I was hot garbage after the second.

^ First Pfizer shot was fine. Sore arm that was no worse than my flu shot last fall, kinda tired for a day or so. Got the second shot last night. I was fine this morning (nine hours ago), not even a sore arm, but as of about three hours ago, I have a headache, am exhausted, random muscles hurt, and I've got goosebumps and the shivers sitting in a sunny 78* room. The rest of my symptoms (cough, runny nose, sore throat) I assume are from spring allergies hitting me at the same time, 'cause all the trees and flowers are fucking and my eyes started itching last weekend.
Dealing with both at the same time is going to be.... interesting.

Mine lasted only about 24 hours, so you should be okay if yours follows like mine does. (I had exactly the same symptoms, minus the allergy stuff.

Yeah, I very deliberately scheduled us for Thursday night, figuring we'd start to feel like garbage late Friday and could just spend the weekend hiding under blankets and napping, then be fine by Monday.
The amazing thing is, insomniac FINALLY found another (not great, but hey it's a) job....
....the bad news is they asked him to start today, after we already had our appointments. It's, uhhhh.... going to be a hell of a first impression, I'm sure.

I got the Pfizer shot. I had Covid in December, but my work, my doctor, the health dept still wanted me to vaccinate because of the nature of my work and etc. Most of my co workers and patients also got the pfizer. I had both doses.
I got very sick both times with a fever, muscle aches, bone aches, fatigue, extremely painful arm. Both times it resolved completely in about 48 hours. I seen lots of people vaccinated and some didn't quite as sick as me, but I a very reactive type of person with allergies and autoimmune issues. It seems to vary a lot in how it goes for people.
Some people had no symptoms after the shots, some had just arm pain, some had a mild fever, aches and a headache. Some felt pretty sick. Symptoms seem to resolve in 24-48 hours and be the worse about 12-24 hours after the shot. The second shot had some sicker than the first shot, but for those who had covid, the first shot was the worse.
I haven't seen any serious adverse reactions, but that doesn't mean they don't happen. It just means I haven't seen it.
Also none of this is official medical advice and everyone look at their own situation and speak to their Doctor.
I do think when possible it is a good idea to take the day off from work the day after one gets the Covid vaccine, but of course that is easier said than done and I had to work the day after the vaccine.
I was super nervous about getting the shot and didn't want it. I was like I already had Covid. But then I came to the decision that because of my job I am morally obligated to take the vaccine and reduce the chance that I could carry a Covid variant to my patients and the like. I am glad I got it and the temporary feeling like crap was worth it.
Also I feel like the vaccine is working in that my job has been covid free since everyone has been vaccinated and we did have one floor that didn't have a covid outbreak before the vaccine and they have yet to have an outbreak. Now, of course it is not going to work 100 percent of time, but it is looking good in terms of being helpful.

And also speaking of Covid in December. Post Covid I was still short of breath and weak for a while.
Pre covid I used to run up and down 4 flights of stairs, down and then back up when I needed something from another floor and was fine. Post Covid I couldn't do that any more and had to wait for the slow elevator even if I was just going down one flight.
Then the other day another nurse was like gets go get the new mattress downstairs together and bring it up. And he goes to the stairs..and I was thinking eep, but I don't want to share that I am weak! So I went down the stairs and tired, no shortness of breath!
I can run and own the stairs again while breathing normally, yay! I have been back to the stairs all the time!

Got the first dose of Moderna. 5 days ago. That evening, I began to wonder if I was starting to get the effects of it as I didn't feel right. However, it never got worse and I was okay in the morning. Sore arm for a couple days. We'll see how dose 2 goes in 3 weeks.
