@SilentHills there is good RP on WoD places.
But yes. You are supposed to be a special snowflake. Also um...the source books and supplements for most of the spheres can be quite rapey and hypersexual compared to many other rpgs. Most games will tap that down quite a bit but it can cause issues with people who do not read game rules/policies if staff isn't on top of things.

In my opinion (this might be off-topic, in which case please let me know) the main issue with WoD MU* isn't so much that characters are special. They are kind-of sort-of supposed to be.
The issue - for me - is that RP tends to be very segregated around bubbles of activity (typically PrPs, whether staff- or player-ran) and bar RP. That leads to feast or famine; either you're fending off bloodthirsty frogmen or scenes revolve around birthday parties and dating calendars. As overall activity wanes it gets tilted toward the latter.
But in the right group it's a whole lot of fun.

I'm doing my best to throw down some plothooks and get a plot going. I think we left plot and mood direction on the backs of PRP runners for a long time without much guidance or cohesion and the only thing going on beside sometimes low effort XP award plots.

I'm going to be honest, I want to play WoD - but every single character page I look at is very special snowflake. Is this normal in WoD? The soundtracks turn me off. So emo. So nu-metal. Is there actually good RP on WoD?
Oh yeah, by the way - I have never played a WoD game but I know some stuff...
The only answer is to come and make the music pool suck less.

Can you elaborate, without necessarily providing an example as to avoid starting something?
The soundtracks turn me off. So emo. So nu-metal.
It's a game full of middle-aged people trying to imitate what we imagine college kids think gritty supernatural darkness is like. Some cringe is unavoidable.
Is there actually good RP on WoD?
Sure. The ratio of gold to garbage is no worse on a WoD game than any other.
-
@GreenFlashlight I sadly cannot provide an example to this because it will start some shit.
Regardless, I've been informed a few posts up that this type of stuff is absolutely normal on WoD.
I think the types I'm kinda referring to are the 'I'm so pretty. My powers revolve around how pretty and charismatic I am. I have fifteen boyfriends and girlfriends. My template is very obnoxious. Also I'm very random! Insert GIF here!' I hope that gives you a better example.

Oh. Yeah, that happens. Fallcoast's house rules specifically make it cheaper to be The Sexiest One Of Them All, so it's a little more pronounced here than a lot of places. I have too much sympathy to judge; it's hard to not wish you were one of the beautiful people.

Don't make me bring Kaleb to Fallcoast. He was bad enough over on The Reach.

For whatever reason when I try to connect with DuckClient it automatically breaks the connection when I try to log in. Woe.

@Olsson Make sure SSL is set to never. That happened to me too!

So what's the word on The Reach 3: The Reach Around? Curious because I was listening to some 80s tunes earlier.
I found a way to travel back in time solely to announce that The Reach 3 would be opening soon as of 2011.
