Considering Arx? Consider Deepwood!

My issue mostly is time and stupidity (when it comes time learning new game systems).
The nice thing about the rosters is that all you do is log in and say, 'I want to play X because they seem cool' and you're done with cg.
I was put off by the SO MANY THINGS nature of the game for a long time, and there is a lot of that. Though I found I could ignore most of it on my dumb bashy commoner until I got the hang of things, and the RP is reliability good. I feel like a noble who wasn't in any kind of leadership position would also be pretty easy to coast on for awhile (a fac head less so, admittedly).
-
@mietze I think you could really have fun with any of the characters available. While I think you'd make an amazing Mia, it might be too much timesuck for you; however Peri or Oona might be right up your ally. Peri's basically Moana, Oona is a sassy old lady who lets people think she's daffy while actually be pretty damn clever.

I like how "legit" was put in quotes because deep down Sam knows she's still a fraud

I'm not sure how to react to that. It was supposed to be funny, I guess?
-
Was intended to be, yes. maybe I'm mistaking Samantha for someone else but wasn't she raised to nobility as part of a rather contentious decree?
-
I don't always process tone well so I wasn't sure if that was supposed to be funny at me or with me. It's still a bit hard to tell.
It's not a secret anymore. Yes, Samantha wasn't born as Samantha Deepwood, she was the daughter of a nameless servant. She was brainwashed as a child to believe she was Samantha Deepwood and when she got older she realized the truth, and the actual bloodline was completely wiped out in a massacre arranged by the Rex'alfar and their agents. She exposed herself because an agent of the Rex'alfar was trying to extort her, and she wanted the Peers to understand how far they would go and the necessity of the Teind. Dawn stripped her title, and then re-ennobled her as Ivy Deepwood. She still goes by Samantha because she's been Samantha for almost all her life, and "Ivy" is strange to her.
I know it sounds awkwardly defensive, but no, Sam doesn't "know deep down she's a fraud". I guess it's not humor I appreciate! C'est la vie.

@Cupcake Samantha has the respect and friendship of her liege lords at both the ducal and high lord level, and is generally a trusted and well-admired leader within her faction.
Anybody who doesn't like that can go suck eggs, for all I care.
-
Guys, if I weren't already full on alts, I'd make/take a Deepwood vassal! Samantha and I already have some good fun, and she'll give you hooks if you need them, I'm sure. Just giving her a little plug of my own, certainly a good choice!
-
If I didn't already have a Grayson fealty alt, I'd certainly consider a Deepwood. Sam and her crew are good people!
-
Now for some reason I'm imagining "Derpwood", but in a positive light. I mean, this is where I imagine Derpy Hooves is from. Everyone here is well-meaning but sometimes kind of ditzy.
...
Sorry! Sorry. Continue the recruitment campaign.

Count Orrin Seliki of Pearlspire should be coming back onto the roster as of this next cycle. He's part of an already made House, with his mother serving as voice, and his two (relatively) adult children. Despite being on the roster, he has never been brought IC, so he's effectively a blank slate roster character which gives potential players room to grow. If you'd like to play a noble/try being a Head of House without having to come up with a concept from scratch, please take a look!
-
One small correction-- Emele and Eshken are commoners not minor nobility. Though Kenna-- who is --just went back on the roster (and that is sad ).
-
Orrin Seliki (see link above) is now officially on the roster.
While not Deepwood, there's also an opening for a House head over in Lyonesse, who are related to Deepwood through marriage that are now open as well:
Demura Lyonesse, the Martial Marquessa is Marquis Rymarr's sister and the head of Lyonesse.
A new opening has also popped up in Riven!
