Marvel: 1963+

Hi there,
Dead Girl here. I'll be playing at COMUX as Dead Girl. Sad to see the game go down, and hope to see you all there. Feel free to contact me here, too.
-
@paris Life's treating me pretty well. There's just a lot of it.
-
Okay. Daire managed to recover the database and loaded the game onto his own server. There are no plans to keep the game going indefinitely.
There are plans though to make a new supers game, a modern one. However, till that's ready to go, people are welcome to continue playing on M63. The address is:
208.97.141.242 port 6000. Consider it unsupported and no new characters will be approved.
-
We'll leave it up for a bit for people to decompile anything they want to keep, wrap up some things that they wanted to wrap up, and we will be taking it down after a little while. I agree with Tangent and others. It's not coming back for good. It crashed the day he passed, and we'll let it rest. But not until after one last little bit so that those who lost things suddenly can have a chance to collect the things they created there.
For any others who may have had games running on Theorem's server, there is a small chance I may be able to recover them. Reach out to me privately if so.

This post is deleted! -
@tnp I'll follow y'all to the next one if you allow OCs, especially if you let folks bring their immortal ones over. What's 40 years? xD

Thank you guys for getting a copy to put up for people. That's awesome and really appreciated, I'm sure.

Yes, OCs will be allowed.

@tangent
Ouch.. I'm sorry about '63 going down. Was fun when I was there! -
Everything about this really, really sucks.
I had the best time I've ever had in mush on M63. Thank you, Tangent and Theorem. Playing there got me through breast cancer. The grief of losing both Theorem and the game has hit me hard. Like, "calling my therapist, in tears" hard.
I want the game back. Elmo won't be the same in a modern setting. But, wishes, fishes, etc.
Thanks to everybody who played with me and made my experience so great.
-
@666stringsamurai I hope you give the new game a shot once it's open. You're welcome there, either with Elmo or a different character.
-
@666stringsamurai I'm really glad you enjoyed it and that it helped you through some rough times. Hopefully I'll see you on TNPs upcoming game. I'm excited for it.
-
I will be there when it opens.
I don't think I gave M1963 a fair shot before, for reasons of my own.
-
@ganymede I wasn't too active there as I've been on a MUSH sabbatical for the last year, but most of the folks I talked to, including staff, seemed pretty decent and warm people. A number of solid players I'd known from other games all ended there and stayed there until it closed, so there had to be a reason for that.
-
I've been thinking of trying another supers game lately, so I look forward to seeing this one.
-
Life got busy, I had a move, etc- long story shot, I was absent for quite a bit because real life. I got my bearings and managed to log back in to... yeah.
I met some cool people on '63, and Theorem was one of the best. I always felt bad that I couldn't spend as much time as I wanted to in-game, and with him. He was an absolute joy to RP with and he always made everybody feel welcome and included- I enjoyed chatting and hanging around with him just as much as I enjoyed being in-character. I'm sort of at a loss for words.

New address:
208.113.128.243 6000That is for the old M63 game if anyone wants to hang out there.

So, as promised, here's an update.
We have a name. Empire State Heroes.
Obviously, it's taking place in NYC. It is set in the Marvel universe but we will accept characters from any publisher with the caveat they have to be tweaked so as to have always been part of the Marvel universe. This is the same as M63 was and we just like it.
We're using the same code as M63 (thank you @ixokai ) as it's pretty awesome. There will still be loggers capable of posting directly to the wiki. The grid is pretty much the same though obviously the descs will be updated and some rooms have been added. Staten Island is now filling in for Gotham, for instance.
Here's a blurb from the home page of the wiki:
New York City sits poised on the cusp of a period of rebirth, renewal, exploration, and growth as it takes the spotlight on a global stage. Our game begins in 2019, in a period of rebuilding after a series of attacks on the United Nations left a large section of the city devastated. The United Nations is in a period of rebuilding. Superhero factions are working to regroup, and are working to regain and strengthen government recognition on a global stage.
Globalism has become a very real possibility as nations all over the world argue the pros and cons of establishing a Global government, recognizing the need to represent the entire planet in an ever-expanding world where an alien presence is very real. In orbit, a space station is being built as a point of entry for those coming in from off-world, both for security and diplomatic purposes.
From the neighborhood to the skies, people both powered and otherwise are finding the world becoming a much smaller place, and all will be called upon to aid in issuing the world toward this new future.
Further updates as we progress. I'll go out on a limb and say we should be open by March. It's possible we might be open sooner Once we have a more firm idea, I'll start it's own thread.

The concept sounds interesting. Most supers games, like most comics universes, are heavily invested in being static environments. One where supers are actively working to reshape the world is exciting!

Sorry to hear about Theorem. I had a good time on Marvel 1963 when I played there. I was said that I had to leave when I did.
