I do feel kind of old though that my first thought in seeing that would be of the "gay friendly" days and non-discrimination in the parks (well aware that record has not been spotless either). My culty church of my childhood used to protest the parks on "Gay Days" and boycotted it the rest of the year and it was a very big Bad Thing That Will Ruin Our Country because Disney wouldn't denounce or discriminate against the people coming in.
I'm kind of glad that someone else's first thought might be to roll their eyes and assume that the person getting the tattoo was ignorant to Disney's problematic at best decisions for their films and franchises and the objection is to it being a media conglomerate. Totally not denying that's a problem. But to me that is kind of progress, where of course it is not unique for LGBTQ+ folks to feel welcome and wanted at any amusement park or vacation chain, so why would that be even thought of.
But by the same token? Maybe it's just a stupid tattoo, totally could be. I've totally seen stupider (to me) ones, but I'm sure their wearer must have liked them just fine.

I'm not sure if the ADD/ADHD thread or the Work Thread would be better for this, but I opted for just the general Real World Bleh thread.
So, since the beginning of April, I have been required to work outside of my bidded post of 2nd shift Floor Security at our work release facility against union contract. Because of COVID, they reduced the number of inmates housed there and moved half of the staff to the main jail to reduce the chronic problem of overtime. I hate the main facility. The officers who work there are lazy and have no clue what they're doing, and the behavior of the inmates there are of the "think behaving like they're still in middle school is acceptable" variety.
Having had enough of that and the protests making me rethink my career choice, I have cast a wide net for jobs. I have been offered a position with the post office delivering mail in a rather nice part of town and it will offer a pay cut of only $2/hr. I also started dating someone and we really like each other. However, a job I put in for in California in February has finally come calling and wants to offer my double my current pay.
So now I am pulling my hair out at all this stress. Do I quit my current job, leaving all these friends I have made and the devil I know? Do I take the California job, leaving this blooming relationship? Do I take the post office job, essentially giving up the best opportunity I have ever had in my life as far as jobs go? If I take the California job, do I sell all my stuff rather than ship it? I have hoarding tendencies, and getting rid of stuff is very hard for me. On and on the decision matrix goes, and I just want to down a fifth and go to bed.

California is an expensive place to live, if you're going to be located in a city. Knowing what I know of you, it will drive you nuts. It drove me nuts, and I was coming from Canada.
Post office jobs are steady and have good benefits, but often have long hours.
Enjoyable relationships are not easy to come by as you get older.
-
Post office jobs are not steady anymore if you're in the states. Like, I definitely would not take that one with what's currently going on and how I wouldn't be surprised to see a Trump second term.

The job is in the Ventura/Oxnard/Santa Barbara area which, according to all the cost of living sites I can find that have that area, is only about 18% more expensive than Louisville. They're offering $80K, which, when you do the math, is comparable to about $65K in Louisville. The most I have ever made at my current job is $58K and that was my first year, when I was working a minimum of 60 hours a week and sometimes 80 hours a week, plus uniformed off-duty security work and I had no vacation. So when it comes to money, it is an overall step up, as I will be making more than I ever have and only have to work 40 hours a week.
Yeah, the Post Office is getting creamed right now. Their turn-over is atrocious according to some of the reddits I have been reading. But, finding a relationship at my age is, as you stated, very difficult. I've never had to decide between money or love before, so hooray for new experiences.
As for California, yeah, not the biggest fan. I love the climate, I love the beaches, I love the food, but I can't stand how everything feels like it's one giant suburb.

My father used to live out in Oxnard. I didn't realize it was so expensive to live in Louisville.
I'm also uncertain if security/jail work in California will be as stable or rewarding or safe as Louisville.
-
Louisville isn't expensive, but Oxnard isn't either, compared to LA. The biggest jumps are going to be in rent, which is going to be one and a half to twice as expensive, and utilities, which will be about 33% higher.
It's a complete career change. Still civil service, but not law enforcement.

bugs.
fucking bugs.
I have to ask the complex send an exterminator out every couple of weeks because of bugs. I know it's not me. I've never had an issue with bugs before to begin with. I clean. I'm not a neat freak, but I clean. I tidy up regularly and I try to clean the place once a week. It's not OMG clean, but there's no trash left lying around, the floors are kept decently clean.
It's not me.
But I am almost certain it's my neighbor.
The bugs began appearing a month, month and a half after they moved in.
And they leave trash outside their front door.
I'm not talking like, a single trashbag waiting to carry out to the dumpster. That's fine. I do that. Sometimes I clean late at night, so I put the bag out to carry out the next morning. No, I mean... for example for a week straight there was a WingStop bag that was greasy/damp on the lower half and multiple (used) diapers. Like, just lying loose. Like they just opened the door and tossed the diaper out to sit on the walkway. A few other trash items, too, but those are the ones that stood out.
And it all sat there. For a week. And this is a regular thing. Food bags, random trash items, trash bags that get torn open (wildlife) and lie there for days at a time.
I dunno at what point the complex is gonna start inspecting other apartments due to the bugs, but I hope it's soon. (And yes, I have reported it to the apartment management, but nothing's been done that I know of yet.)

Stop making it SO HARD for me to give you money! If you want folks to pay a bill, why do you make the easiest way for most cost $5-10? This should be illegal.

My real life peeve is smoke!
We got this like haze of smoke over everything from wildfires. With this happening during the Covid scare, I have people coming up to me, I cant breath well. Is it smoke or Covid? I wish the smoke would be gone and the Covid too, but together..wtf...2020!

@Aria If it helps, those of us setting them hate them too.
Q: My group mates aren't responding. What should I do?
A: You are marked separately, and so the evidence of their work, both in their appendix and their presentation, will reflect any work on their part, as will yours.Q: Can I change groups?
A: No, you picked them.Q: Can we change our case study.
A: No, you were allocated them and you will work on that one.And so on and on and on...

"I can see that the database is already built and operational, but everything I want I can get with that spreadsheet that you send out and Power BI, so I don't see why we need a database at all."
Where the bloody hell do you think I get the spreadsheet, out of my arse? And why didn't you say something 18 months ago, before I built the bloody database? Or in March, before I started putting data in it?

Response: "I will no longer be sending out the spreadsheet, and you will need to create one yourself from the same source. That source would be the database you don't think we need."

It's been over five months since I went to the office. I feel like I sit down for work and just --
lose time
-- and next thing, day's over. Is there a name for that? It's not my favorite coping mechanism.
-
I was asked four or five times, while in a hospital bed, on lifesupport, if I was absolutely certain I wasn't able to work. SSD can suck a D.

@badger time blindness is vaguely related.

Not a huge fan of this whole internet outage thing that's been going on in the US this morning.
