Critters!

@nyctophiliac I am so so sorry
-
Today I sat and watched the South African Airways Cargo Tracker like a hawk with my waybill number and have nearly gone out of my MIND worrying about them arriving on this side safely, etc.
I can finally, happily, announce that Boris and Bela have arrived and my husband has picked them up and SELFISHLY taken them back to work with him. (Stupid salary has him by the short n curlies) I get to meet them in an hour or two.
Incidentally, it's also my kid's birthday so we are trying to pass this off as a birthday present. ("HAPPY BIRTHDAY SON, Mama got you a gift to mama!") I am about to explode not being able to tell him or show him. He took Ry's death hard for a (now) six year old too, and I have a feeling we both are just going to fall to pieces when they finally arrive home.
Thank you everyone for your support and just being there to listen to me.

Rescued a new puppers yesterday named Artemis. She is a sweet 7-month-old schnauzer, terrier, Irish wolfhound mix.
Jayne, our 12-year-old malamute/shepherd mix couldn't care less about the new arrival and mostly ignores her.
Kaylee, our 7-year-old Lab mix IS NOT HAPPY. =/ I'm having to keep them separated by having Artemis in her crate, or throw a muzzle on Kaylee so she can't bite the new girl when I try to let them roam free in the same room.
I really hope this jealousy and/or agression passes soon and they can all tolerate each other.
-
@Alamias The new baby is adorable! Our kitties are still not allowed to mingle, so I feel you on the aggro problems. (Old flouf is scaredy cat, new flouf is playful pouncy brat. This does not mix well, despite the floufs loving US just fine.)
I also love that you have a drawer of drow, of dwarves... my rational brain knows these are miniatures, but part of me wants it to be 'we open this drawer and a swarm of pixies fly out'.
-
@surreality The drawers of miniatures are, unfortunately, not mine. They currently reside at my place for my friend until he can make space for them (as they were inherited from his god-father), but I do get use of them until as such time they no longer reside here.
I really wish I knew why Kaylee was so aggressive. =/ But we will work through it.

My damn youngest cat (about 1.5 years old now). We've had him since he was super young and a former stray, so he picked up... weird habits to say the least.
He has such trust issues, even now. He'll probably always be half-wild. For example he loves me, he'll sleep on or next to me, purr when he sees me, want his belly rubs, all that stuff. But that's only if I'm immobilized - laying down on the bed, sitting on the toilet, etc.
If I'm moving? If I do anything he's not expecting, including reaching to grab my phone in a completely different direction than he's in? He bolts and hides. If I walk toward his actual general direction? He bolts and hides.
What the hell, dude.

An adorable birb who apparently only performs as a doubles act: https://youtu.be/6q73jTm0Wd4

I love how pets all have their own unique way of snoozing.
Share yours. My black panthress, Ike, always sleeps with her front paws stretched out in front of her. This is especially adorable when it means they're draped out off a couch, the bed, etc into the air.
(AJ is often just yoga cat. He'll twist into various poses. And weirdly, he likes to stretch out against the wall??? You'll find him off to the side of the room, sprawled against the floorboard.)

M6 white kitty is the same. She cuddles if we gave a blanket over us, or she will sit on the far side of husband's laptop. If we twitch she is gone like lightning.
-
@Arkandel Yeah, I wouldn't be shocked if he's always pretty skittish. I've got one similar -- former stray, semi-feral, we figure about a year old or a little less when she showed up, been with us 11 years now(!). She loves me, but she definitely loves me best if I'm in an immobile position such as you mention. She's more chill about unexpected movements (as long as they aren't fast, especially in her direction) and about being generally walked toward now, but still watchful and still prone to fleeing and hiding whenever she suddenly fears I might be heading toward her because this time I finally intend to eat her delicious soul.

My boy cat, Kage, likes to be held like a stuffed animal while he sleeps at night (he gets under the covers, stretches out long, and will try to nestle between your body and your arm until you cradle him) I wake up sweating a lot of nights because he will do this after I am asleep and he is a little powerful heat generator! At least he is a very slender little thing so he does not put your arm to sleep.
His sister Sombra is a big boned and fluffy girl who likes to flop on legs and put them to sleep because she is one heavy ass cat.
I think it is kind of a dominating thing, because she is def alpha/queen of the house and is very territorial.
During the day when they cannot go sleep with a person, Sombra curls into a fuzzy shrimp or cat loaf posture usually on the cat tree or on a box or the air vent. Kage just...flops on the floor somewhere. While mashing his face into the floor. Usually he likes to find someone somewhere to cuddle though. While the teens are at school its floor face mashing though. And yes, the teens often play computer games or console games with this sleeping boneless silly cat in their arms, dead asleep. He is the weirdest cat I've ever had. And he's a little dumb. But very pretty and sweet!
-
Ike does not like me to leave the apartment. She wants me home with her all the time forever. She has abandonment issues (which is why we have AJ- I don't always like him, but the two of them adore each other).
She knows when I'm prepping to go out. I lay clothes out on the bed. So she lays on them. Yesterday......yesterday she pretended to be asleep. Curled up. 'Snoring.' Except she had her eyes open, watching me. Yes. My cat pretended.to.snore. She's too smart for her own good, I swear to god.

New puppers sleep belly up and horizontally across the bed to make my sleep as impossible as possible!

You wouldn't move and wake them up, would you? What kind of monster does that.
-
@Arkandel No, sadly I'm no monster. Have you seen a basset hound's sleepy face? It is weaponized cuteness!

Just an update. After a week of mingling the new puppy with the agro problem child, things seem to be ok! We took the week splitting time between the new puppy in her crate, and when the new puppy wasn't in her crate muzzling the agro dog to make sure no actual bites could happen.
Yesterday, they were both roaming free without any muzzle on the agro dog! It still a situation we are watching closely, and I don't think we will leave the new puppy out of her crate if we leave the house for a while yet 'just in case', but so far, so good.
Now if we can just get the new puppy to go outside to do her business. She knows about the dog door, and knows how to use it but nooo.. Still will do her thing in the house...lol.
-
@Alamias I feel for you. Sames here (puppy training). I think they have the "idea" of it but needs more enforcement to be concreted. So tiring.
I'm glad you've made progress with the problem child and new pupperino though. That's some great progress!
