Critters!
-
@aerianyx I have no defense. I just do this to our cats every few years, even though they hate it. The year I put a Santa hat and a beard on Pasha, he made this yowling sound I've never heard before or since. He tolerated the Yoda ears hat only slightly better.
But Nikolai. Bless poor little Nikolai. Even with his ears pressed flat against his fur and a giant deer-shaped snood on his head, he was still purring at us. Completely freaked out, but also purring.

We are finally taking Miss Kitty to the shelter she was adopted from, so they can do a medical check on her and the animal control department can officially open an animal abandonment investigation on her owners, which they need to do so she's legally transferred back into the ownership of the shelter.
We've offered to foster her, but they're making us apply even though we've been caring for her for about a month now. Wish us luck.
-
@aria Much luck!
Also, these are not my critters. I do not know whose critters these are. I just stumbled across this picture the other day and it might be one of the most adorable things on the internet, and it's in theme with 'cute fuzzy creatures in people clothes/costumes'.
The potency of cute going on there is dangerously high.
-
@surreality They're my critters now. Soon as I track them down.
-
It's an alpaca.

I want to hug this cat so badly...

The Epic Saga of Miss Kitty continues.
We were not permitted to bring her home last night. The humane law officers needed to make at least one final attempt to contact her owners, despite the fact that 24PetWatch apparently attempts to make contact ten times before they stop trying, and this doesn't include my door knocking, neighborhood post, found pet report with animal control, or the shelter reaching out.
They showed up at the house today and found weeks of mail piled outside. Addressed to someone who isn't her owner.
We're now applying to adopt her, and hoping they don't give us a hard time about our vet records showing all our pets have out of date vaccines, because I use the low cost clinics instead.
Until then, here is another cute picture of one of my cats.
.....we have a lot of cats.
-
@aria His name is Vanya. About five years ago he was diagnosed with FIP and given weeks to live. We declined euthanasia at the time, took him into the bedroom to give palliative care away from the other cats, whereupon he... made a complete recovery.
He is currently on my lap and biting at my chin.

Frankly, if you are willing to take and spay/neuter the cat, I don’t see why they would give a shit, unless you have eleventy billion cats.
Then it’s just an army you’re building, clearly.
-
@ganymede A cat army would be the most useless thing.
-
@ganymede ...the sig says it all.
-
-
@ganymede I am officially blinded by the concentrated adorable in that image.
DAMN YOU.
(All of those cats may not be doing the same thing at once, but I think the whole forum just went OMG FLOUF!!! at once.)

@ganymede This just reminds me of how we have wasted like $10 trying to get the wee Starfire plush from the grip of THE CLAW at the diner. (The husband did catch us a Raven, though.)
Odds of us wasting another dinner's worth of cash on more attempts? High.
...this is how people who aren't especially into plush toys end up with a bajillion of them anyway, for real.
The cats love sleeping on them, though!
-
Poor Hera looks particularly silly in the wake of being splayed. She has also turned into an utterly demanding cuddle monster who will not let me sleep? But the purr cuddles are adorable. Here she is just sort of hanging out next to me.

I AM PICKING UP MISS KITTY TONIGHT AND WILL PET HER MAJESTIC EAR TUFTIES.
I'd say I'm sorry for the all caps shouting but I'm not.
-
@aria <happy cheering noises> Happy endings are the best.
