Good or New Movies Review

@auspice
Annihilation got some poor reviews overall but I thoroughly enjoyed it.Also. Saw Adrift tonight finally. Shailene Woodley was fantastic. Her co-star phoned it in. Otherwise it was pretty decent.
-
So tge Fantasia Film Festival in July is going to debut The Man Who Killed Hitler And Then The Bigfoot, starring Sam Elliott.
-
Oh I see my general review got wiped:
So Jurassic World. Its terrible. Go see something else if you're going to the theater.
-
Incredibles 2 was totally wicked.
It has a pretty interesting commentary on superheroes and normal umanity which was quite cool, the superhero fights were nice and it legit picks up like 15 seconds after the end of the original movie. It was worth seeing in theatres. Also Jack-Jack a best.

I just saw it last night and I also really loved that it picked up right after the first movie.
Jack-Jack and Edna are amazing.
The scenes causing the epilepsy warnings were uncomfortable visually (for me), but they made sense for the story. And it was (as for Pixar's track record) a great story.

Finally watched A Wrinkle in Time yesterday and How to Talk to Girls at Parties today during study breaks.
Fuck them both for making me feel things. I do not recommend them if you do not like to feel things.
I'm not tearing up, you're tearing up.
-
What I've learned from this is you like poorly reviewed movies, because fuck the man for telling you what to like.
I've also put How to Talk to Girls At Parties on my watch-list, and my listen-list because there's a Gaiman-read version of this. He reads his own work beautifully. Let me tell you how moved I was by his reading of Snow Glass Apples. Answer: Very.
-
@coin I quite enjoyed a wrinkle in time. I was worried I might not. Worth the rental. I regret not seeing it in theatre.
-
I have
some story issuesone major story issue with it but it is by far the best version of the book translated into another media thus far, re: A Wrinkle In Time. Not that the bar is very high, but I do think it still has a lot of value. -

I don't do reviews, because reviews are just someone else's fart.
I mean opinion.

I'm pleased to hear that you have neither.

Disregarding the opinions of others is a very enlightened and forward thinking way to live your life, Mr. President.
MAGA.

Apparently, you have not read the opinion in Yah-Huh v. Uh-Uh.
-
By my reading, Yah-Huh v. Uh-Uh incorrectly applied the BOFA standards, but OK.

Damn, are you so salty regarding your Commander-in-Chief that you've resorted to comparing me, a heavily left-leaning foreigner, to him as a critique on my disregard for artistic journalism when it comes to whether or not I like a movie or not?
Damn. Congrats. That's a new level of silly.
I feel like this warrants an amendment to Godwin's Law, 'cuz comparing people to Nazis is legit now a days, anyway.

Or in other words: Fuck the “guilty” part; these are just pleasures.
For instance, I actually liked the Super Mario Brothers movie. I know that nobody else on the planet did, and I know that if I saw it again I would cringe so hard that I’d invert myself, but fuck it.

@coin I was using hyperbole, but the fact that you react so negatively to it is a little troubling. I thought you'd be amused, not fly straight into 'OMG GODWIN's LAW!' You should take a step back and cool down.
But that's just my opinion, so you probably didn't read it anyways. You know. Because you don't listen to the opinions of others.

Oh, I'm super chill, man. Honest. But on top of this being a textual medium, you have a history of being so comically over-sensitive and then being so comically hyper-aggressive, depending entirely on your random mood, that I honestly don't even bother trying to figure out if what you say is hyperbole or not anymore.
It's cool, though. I mean, I'm not offended or anything. If I was, I would have used a word like "stupid" or "ridiculous" or "infuriating" rather than, you know, the usually-related-to-funny "silly".

Super belatedly.
"Wrinkle in Time" was an interesting watch for me, because it didn't work but it's one of those things that didn't work for reasons I find kind of intellectually interesting to take apart. Its failings are as much as on me as on the movie. It wasn't really the adaptation I-the-reader wanted. It wasn't really aimed at even as broad an audience as something like the Pixar movies was, but lived firmly in the realm of being first and foremost for kids. My expectations were for something different when Ava Duvernay was attached to the project and were calibrated incorrectly, not in terms of quality but in terms of the movie she and the studio (who knows which, a lot my issues were script-level) were clearly interested in making. I didn't love it but am certainly not sorry I paid money to see it in a theater.
It is probably as good an adaptation as we'll ever get and a lot the performances and visuals were fun (loved Zach Galifianakis' Happy Medium cave).
