Let's talk about TS.

However, that's also why (I think) superhero games put in rules to limit sexual things. Because if you don't, you don't have a superhero game anymore, you have Shang with capes. There's nothing wrong with that, but it's a wholly different genre and flavor. I remember on the first Crucible City game we had to implement rules for that very reason, because we had people app in TS concepts, not superheroes.
That's my own peeve. I don't mind TS at all in any OOC consenting form unless it takes over the game, and too much becomes about who is fucking whom and how. Wonder Woman and Batman can engage in all the BDSM acrobatics their players want behind closed doors... but when it's time to fight Amazo it needs to be about the JLA beating up a crazy robot.
-
@arkandel Yeah, exactly. I think of TS stuff in games like hot spices - if you're not careful it will overwhelm everything else and you end up with something one note and boring.
-
@kay Orgazmo is a great superhero concept.

We actually had a guy try to app that at CC. Mentalist with the super power to give people orgasms. He felt he'd be great at fighting crime.

HE WOULD.

@vulgarkitten We felt that sexually assaulting people was more a super villain thing, so denied it. I can't remember if he came back with a tentacle concept or if that was another guy.
-
I'm just picturing trying to rob a bank and have an orgasm at the same time.
-
If he/she gets away, though, you may have created an intense fetish for them, so now they have to rob banks to get off.

The hazards of the job, man.

orgazmo would work if it were played for jokes like the movie AND whomever playing it were, like, not just a totally weird gross creep the way p much everybody with any sort of pheromone power basically is always a weird gross creep (see literally not figuratively everybody who's ever played dakken or empath on a game)
and yeah sure if it's like major characters and they do nothing but bone then it's a problem but honestly that's no more of a problem than like anybody else doing an important char super shitty, unless it's somebody like ditko or immortal dreamer or the head guy on the place that used hitchhiker names or the kitty&wisdom couple but with guys like that it isn't a TS thing it's a sexual predation thing
i think a lot of the bias against ts on comic places is like a weird combination of 1: you get people who have like zero concept of what's appropriate in public and what's appropriate with strangers (performative lesbians, dakkens, etc) and 2: people who are basically just predators (the above mentioned crew, some who were rl predators) slamming into 3: a pb that can run a lot younger than your average game and 4: people who are like trying to relive their youth via adolescent power fantasies they're attached to and who want nothing sexual to taint their memories
you get plenty of 1 and 2 on pretty much every game sooner or later but it's their presence alongside and (let's be honest) tendency to creep on 3 and piss off 4 that ime is p unique to capes

To be fair that is how Empath was written for the most part to, especially after the Nova Roma retcon.
-
yeah but "Freddy Krueger was a child molester" isn't a reason for anybody to be okay with someone playing him and molesting kids
-
I agree and would definitely not approve the character on the game, I would just make to to leave enough blame for the original creators of the character as well as those that play them on mushes.
-
I like people having the ability to put their limits/what they enjoy in an easily accessible format.
The problem is that romance/sex play TENDS to be highly individualized. There are a few people in the community that I would give carte blanche to attempt to go whatever relational direction they wanted without needing to even oocly talk to me about it. They're not all people I've known forever. But they are folks I know to be well mannered and respectful of boundaries oocly.
I also love meeting new folks and like to keep an open mind. So I could say that I like to be whipped with twizzlers and tickled with pickles and want to get married and pop out a Duggar level of fantasy npc babies, but that is not very useful for other people to know when I've not played with them yet so I have no idea if we are a match in RP style, time zone, if I'm open to that at that particular time, ect.
It's a great idea in theory but I think just like other RP Prefs types of lists it's not dynamic enough to really serve the purpose intended...and can put pressure on people too.

As staff I always find it amusing when concepts geared entirely towards TS come up, to the point they mention it in their backgrounds, or just, insanity.
On Resident Evil: Redefined, we had someone app and they seemed normal. They wanted to be an Umbrella Experiment, that was fine!
Then one day I got the TS mav about them tentacling someone.
My life was never the same again. It did also lead me to believe for one of the first times in memory, that there did need to be some control/limit on just how much/how far players go.
How though? XD
-
@valkyrie there is no reason for staff to define limits beyond the obviois and illegal. Or just do not allow it at all, but when I hear Staffers wanting to police exact metrics of TS? Sounds more like someone is going to be snooping in on my fun times and I will just go play elsewhere.
-
What consenting adults do in private is nobody's business but their own.
-
No. This is wrong. Staff do not need to police or put limits here. That's gross.
ETA: Way more gross and invasive and wrong than the tentacle porn in the first place.
-
@valkyrie It's a MU*. If you build it, they will cum. Games that try policing sexytimes are burning energy better used elsewhere.
