Kushiel's Debut

So a few questions I am curious about.
- Can I get a few suggestions on how these varying nobles generally differentiate themselves from eachother? I've been asked to play there, but have trouble coming up with what manner of thing I could do that would be intresting.
All the Houses have different goals and different histories. The flavor of the people involved in them are different. Many of them have differing political struggles. If you want to pop in and page me (I'm Emma) I can help you navigate through it all and find that interesting concept for you. For new players coming in, the nobility are basically the standard class. So 'how do they differentiate themselves' is basically 'how do characters differentiate themselves'.
- How much freedom are players generally allowed to make up for story reasons for their character? Can I make up rivals in other houses? Some vendetta they have against my PC? An unfortunate death that caused them to be central in a power struggle between two minor houses?
Depends on the houses, the circumstance, and whether or not there are PCs in said minor houses. Generally it's pretty free rein as long as you are careful about not invalidating someone else's story. Some of the Houses have had too much murder-death-kill in them and are requesting that folks not come in with those concepts (oh look, another slaughter in Chalasse) but there are plenty of places where you could make a power struggle up (or play within one that already exists). It'd just take some hunting to find somewhere appropriate.

Also you can ask around; there are often players who could be interested in having a PC nemesis to contend with.

I have to re-work my concept. I had intended to be a landed noble (of a minor family), head of the family, and the Commander of the City Guard. Unfortunately, I was informed that I could not be the Commander and a landed noble, which means I could not be the head of the minor family.
I will take a couple of days to think about what to do, as there are two obvious ways to go. Meanwhile, work is rough right now, and I'm honestly working on the game system I promised a couple of years ago (working on the 'powers' section).

@deadculture Not that I'm saying you're wrong or anything, but how does +fingering a player and then showing a player with a similar name in the who list prove a connection? Maybe I'm missing some telling detail?
-
@Glitch If you check the 'Fading Suns' thread in the Mildly Constructive board, you will see this is one of the many names he's used in the past. I don't think of this guy as particularly creative, and really, he isn't.
-
It proves nothing but it's prudent to send up a flag so other players can ask and, if it is him, be aware. That fucker is a cancer of the highly manipulative sort, so he can do a lot of damage if you don't know you're dealing with him.
-
@Sunny has said, I think several times now, that this Reynaud is not Custodius.
-
He's talking about Renaud, not Reynaud.

I even highlighted the different names/logins. Surprised you didn't bother reading.
-
Actually I just spelt the name wrong. It happens when names are barely different. Renaud is actually the name I meant. Half the time i spell my own character name wrong.
-
I'm confused. Posted the +finger with one name and the WHO login with another name, and...? What's that supposed to say, precisely?
-
@Sunny Did you read it all? The +finger is the username of the guy who is NOT Custodius, per what you told us, including with his last login time, to prevent confusion.
The WHO is highlighting a name that Custodius used in the past and was presumably logged in with.
-
And...
I'm not seeing a connection. What's the point of posting Reynaud's finger info? What does it have to do with Renaud? And that Custodius uses that name on other games doesn't mean much when it's used on a game heavy with French names.

Yes... a horribly mispelled French name, you mean? Maybe I shouldn't have used that first +finger there since it illustrates nothing apparently.
I give up, anyhow, the warning is made, I'm ready and more than willing to be proven wrong, and I'll gladly say my bad if so.

@Sunny assured me it s not Custodius. She is not a big fan of his either, far as I know, so.. Unless she is REALLLY being a liar pants I see no reason to WHY she would give me such a BS that it is not him. I don't assume it is him unless I see his other handle being used (AKA Custodius) on the wiki and junk.
PS. Any name can be considered misspelled. My RL name is not what the typical spelling is for it. I've seen various spelling for Camren, Ashley, Casey, etc. I don't base /anything/ on name spelling for mu*s because a name can only be used /once/ in a database. So there's a lot of different spellings.

Just for clarity's sake, Reynaud is not Custodious. Renaud may or may not be, though I don't see any evidence for this whatsoever beyond 'oh gosh they're using the same name'. Let me tell you, I've seen both a Soleil and a Lili on various games lately, and I am certainly not either of them. ^^

I know; they said kind and gentle things to me.

This Renaud is not Custodius.
It's funny, because I told him this might happen when he chose the name. It's a nice name, however, and he'll do it justice.
